she knows that you can't
do anything else right.

"next! number 37!" the announcer reported, signaling for the next contenders who were trying out for the school musical to come into the audition room.

miyong sat against the wall, waiting patiently for her turn while reading through her lines. there would only be a few more auditions until it was her turn.

though she was confident in herself and her abilities, she couldn't help but feel nervous - as anyone does before trying out for something.

"hey mi, you okay?"

miyong looked up to meet the kind eyes of a brown-haired boy - the one and only xiao dejun.

miyong smiled at him, making space for him beside her, then motioning for him to sit down. "yeah, little nervous as i always am, but i think i'm ready. you?"

xiaojun gulped sitting down beside miyong, clearly more nervous than the girl, "i don't think i'm gonna do great... the only time i've ever gotten a role in a play is when i was the third-tree-to-the-left in my fifth grade elementary school play."

"relaxxx," miyong said patting him on the shoulder, "you're a natural born actor who just needs... a little push to shine to your full potential."

the boy shared a weak smile with the girl and nodded, "thanks mi."

"anytime dejun, now go practice your lines again and lets rock this audition together, okay?"

"you know it."

the boy left and went to practice his lines in the next room over, while miyong sat in silence, meditating and slowly calming down any nerves than were still present.

after repeating her lines over and over again, miyong began to sing the tune of the song she was planning to audition with, which of course was none other than the most iconic song in "the little mermaid", "part of your world."

look at this stuff, isn't it neat?
wouldn't you think my collection's complete?
wouldn't you think i'm the girl,
the girl who has everything?

everything? yeah, i wish, miyong thought to herself.

her mind trailed back to mark, as it always did.

she hated the fact that it did.

she hated the fact that she would only ever be his best friend.

she hated the fact that had no idea, yet he cared so much for her.

and above all, she hated the fact that she helplessly liked him - she liked him so much that her insides hurt just thinking about him.

and it hurt bad.

miyong's thoughts were rudely interrupted when a pair on black leather boots clicked against the vinyl-tiled floor agressively and stopped at her feet.

slowly looking up from her book of lines and lyrics, miyong's eyes met a sharp pair of dark ones. the girl before miyong had on a white pleated skirt and a tight fitting spaghetti-strap tanktop. her hair was done up in a perfect knot on the back of her head. her skin was flawless as always, and her eyes looked like they were sparkling with all the stars in the universe. she was without a doubt flawless in apperance.
