without further ado, the cast
list you've all been waiting for.

the sound of endless chatter and the anxious footsteps filled the hallway as miyong and seyeon tried to find their way towards the entrance of the drama studio. it had been about a week since the auditions for "the little mermaid" had taken place, and it was the day of the grand reveal — of who would be getting which role.

it had been a long week of anticipation, with all students who had auditioned being on the tip of their toes — or in other words anxious to see if they had gotten the role that they wanted.

though miyong was nervous, she believed in her capabilities. she knew it was important to realize that a role wasn't everything — and that even if she didn't get the role, life would still go on as is.

"oh my gosh, mi," seyeon said matter-of-factly, "stop being so nervous. literally everyone with functional brain would know that you are gonna get the lead, seriously."

miyong pursed her lips, deciding on whether she wanted to listen to seyeon's attempts to help her relax. "finee..."

"listen up, park miyong," seyeon crossed her arms, "it doesn't matter whether you get the role or not, we are going to the bookstore later. my treat, pick out whichever book you want."

miyong's eyes opened wide in excitement. "oh my dear kim seyeon... have i ever told you how much i looove you?" she blew the other girl a kiss, trying to hold in her laughter.

"shhhh... cutie," seyeon gave her best friend a flirty wink, "don't let mark see or hear you... that man will be on. my. ass."

the two girls erupted into laughter, hitting each other on the shoulders jokingly.

"anyways," seyeon finally gasped through her laughter, "jaem said that he wanted to come with us to the bookstore, is that okay?"

miyong's laughter turned into a sly smile, "of courseee," she nodded eagerly, "future boyfriend wants to hang oouuuut."

seyeon slapped the noirette on the arm, while pursing her lips, "shut up will you? he does not like me like that." she rolled her eyes, "he probably likes that girl from his photography class... i saw him being all close with her two days ago."

miyong raised an eyebrow, "oh? keeping tabs on your lover now, i see?"

"if you don't shut—"

the door to the drama studio swung open, and excited cheering spread across the crowd of students in the hallway.

out of the room, walked none other than the drama teacher and director herself, ms. shon. in her hand, she held the answers to what all the students in the hallway were waiting for — the cast list.

"alright aspiring actors and actresses, students, aliens, and everyone else in-between, i know you're all very excited to see the cast list, but please give me a little space." ms. shon, moved towards the bulletin board next to the door, "thank you dears. i want you all to know that i am extremely impressed with the overwhelming amount of talent shown this year at the auditions, and i have tried my very best to cultivate the perfect cast for our production of "the little mermaid"."

" without further ado, the cast list you've all been waiting for..." ms. shon pinned the cast list to the bulletin board on the wall, and quickly stepped back into the drama studio, locking the door, as she knew what kind of chaos was about to arise — as it did every year.

the crowd began pushing towards the bulletin board, with squeals of excitement as well as sighs of dissapointment heard as each student took their turn looking at the cast list.

"congrats, miyong!"

"you deserve it."

"you rock girl."

as miyong drew closer to the front of the crowd, many came around congratulating her, which left miyong even more curious and excited.

the moment miyong reached the front of the crowd, she looked up to see the cast list and her name printed at the very top.

park miyong, senior
princess ariel (main role)

seyeon's enthusiastic squeal rang out in miyong's ear, as she stood frozen in shock and excitement. "i freaking told you, mi! you're incredible!"

the smile on miyong's face grew as she let out a sqeaul equally as loud as seyeon's.

her eyes trailed down the cast list further, curious as to who her fellow castmates were.

xiao dejun, senior
prince eric (main role)

she gasped seeing that xiaojun had also sucessfully gotten the part he worked hard to audition for. she enternally cheered, knowing that now she had someone to go over lines with.

she continued looking down the list before her eyes landed on something that shocked her.

seong hyejin, senior
flounder (supporting role)

"no! no, no, no!" a loud whiny voice could be heard not far away from miyong. "i don't want to be a stupid fish!"

hyejin stood staring at the cast list in fury, stamping her feet to the floor like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum, while her little posse of cheerleaders stood around her.

"didn't your daddy even send ms. shon ₩500,000 won to bribe her into giving you the role?" soomin, hyejin's right-hand woman, or in other words — number one follower, cluelessly asked hyejin, not realizing that almost everyone around could hear her.

"shut up soomin!" the girl angrily screamed, spinning around immediately to leave, shoving people out of her way as her face burned in embarassment.

seyeon stiffled a laugh, watching as hyejin and her crew dissapeared into the crowd without another word.

"serves her right!" seyeon said to miyong with a bright smile on her face, "even a bribe couldn't stop you from getting the role you deserve."

miyong shook her head and laughed in disbelief of what had just occured, "well, that was an unexpected turn of events."

"right? i didn't think she could stoop even lower than she already has." seyeon shrugged before turning back to miyong, "ready to head to the bookstore and celebrate your success?"

"you bet, girlfriend."
