auditions for 'the little mermaid'
musical are next friday!

miyong groaned as she trudged herself down stairs from her room to grab a quick breakfast before walking to school with mark.

a large bruise was quite visible on her right cheek as a result of the incident that had occurred the day prior.

no matter how hard she had tried to cover up the bruise with her concealer, it would not go away.

in the end she had given up, and rather wiped it all off, deciding that she would just ignore it, and hopefully no one else would notice — though she knew they most definitely would.

'is this how you want to play, seong hyejin?' miyong thought to herself, wincing as even the slightest movement on her face caused the tension on her face to hurt.

as she popped an eggo waffle into her toaster, her mind drifted back to the events from the day before.

after the impact of a dodgeball slamming into the side of her head, miyong remembered blacking out to the sound of seyeon's scream.

somehow, when she woke up, she found herself in the nurses office, with the one and only mark lee, by her side.

exactly how she or he had gotten there? miyong had no idea.

mark had fallen asleep in the chair beside her, his hand still firmly intertwined with hers, bringing her a sense of safety and relief when her eyes fluttered open.

she gently shook mark's hand, causing him to slightly stir before rubbing his eyes and immediately sit-up straight.

as soon as he saw that she was awake, his eyes illuminated in an instant — a thousand golden specks flourished in his eyes as he gazed at her innocent-looking face with full concern and adoration.

immediately he rapid-fired questions towards her, wanting to know exactly what had happened in the gym that day.

"what happened?"
"who did this to you?"
"was it on purpose?"

"nothing happened mark, stop worrying... i just tripped and... and knocked myself out." miyong nervously replied. lie.

miyong reassured him countlessly that nothing terrible had happened, and though unconvinced, mark decided not to push it. instead of explaining, he knew miyong needed rest more than anything, so the pair walked home in a comforting silence, with mark carrying miyong's backpack for her — after arguing that she needed to go easy on herself after being injured.

miyong didn't know why she had lied to mark, but she did.

maybe it was because she didn't want to to seem weak in front of him. or maybe it was because she didn't want him to pity her. or maybe — just maybe — she didn't want to ruin anything for him.

all she wanted was for him to be happy... and that meant being with hyejin.

whatever it was, it didn't matter anymore, because it was yet again, a new day.
