"That is why she was put in a mental hospital. Your sister was a heavy drug user and due to that, she hallucinated and imagined all of this. She blamed her innocent children for her unstable state of mind. She blamed her children for injuries she inflicted on herself. Now if you want to question our skills and knowledge of crime and the courtroom anymore, then we would be happy to do it at a police station," the Judge said.
"My sister isn't mental!" I cried, looking at Kyle for support. I almost felt happy, a sense of relief, that it wasn't just us who were experiencing trouble with the boys.
"Miss James-"
"You listen to me, those boys are not normal. It's not just the drugs-"
"Miss James-"
"We've seen it. They're messed up. The reason why I was put in the hospital? Micah-"
"Miss James!" the Judge roared, standing up, "do you want to be put in a mental hospital too?"
Marie stood up also, "I think you should both leave,"
In the car, I couldn't stop thinking about how we weren't crazy. Although I wasn't sure about what we were going to do with the boys, as we weren't allowed to give them up, it felt good knowing we weren't the only ones who had a bad experience with them.
I turned the radio up, to blank out my thoughts, but Kyle immediately turned it down as his phone was buzzing on the dashboard. It was the school. "Hello, who's speaking?" he asked. After a few seconds, he slammed on the breaks, nearly throwing me forwards. "Oh my god," he breathed, "How did- what?!" he looked at me, petrified, "We're on our way now, I can't believe it," he said fast. Suddenly he pushed his foot on the pedal and we shot forwards, driving extremely fast.
