Chapter 8: Together

JJ and Zoe were waiting for their parents to pick them up from school, when they were approached by the same 3 kids who usually bully them. Hey, look who it is. It's the freaks. One boy said as the others laughed. Yeah, why don't you go home to your shoe? Another kid sneered. Shut up! JJ rebuked. Did you just tell him to shut up? the other kids said at the same time.

Is there a problem, punk? Tommy appeared. What's it to you? One kid asked, coming closer. You mess with my little brother and sister, you mess with me. Tommy had his arms folded. Sure. The kids laughed, not taking him seriously. And me. Sara appeared. And me. And me. And me. And me. And me. The other siblings appeared as they gathered around JJ and Zoe. It's all good. One of the bullies quavered. JJ, are these the kids that have a problem with big families? Sara asked. They say we share our underpants. He replied. That's just ignorance. Diggle responded. And do you know how to stop ignorance? Laurel asked the bullies. Education? They whimpered as they started walking backwards. Close. Laurel replied. Butt-whupping. Diggle said as they walked closer to the bullies. Let's go! Come on! The bullies ran away as they started cheering. Hey, what's going on, guys? Nora was standing outside of the car. Just some kids messing with our little brother and sister. Oliver said. But we handled it. Laurel smiled. Family style! They all said together.

What are you guys doing here? We thought you had school. Zoe asked. We got out of school early. Oliver replied. Yeah, we have early release today. Tommy added as they walked to the car.

Sara and Laurel were chatting in their rooms when JJ and Kane came into the room. Kane! Come back! Spit it. Spit it out! Come on, spit it out. JJ implored him. What is going on? Laurel asked. Come on, give it to me. JJ tried getting the phone from the dog's mouth. Where's my cell phone? Laurel asked as her phone began to ring. She looked over at JJ, and saw him extracting the phone from the puppy's mouth. You are so dead. Laurel growled. He's just a puppy. JJ said. Not the dog, you! Laurel snarled before going after him. Mom, Laurel's chasing me! JJ yelled.

A few moments later, she caught him and picked him up and carried him back to her room, before plopping him on the bed and tickling him. Wait, you're not going to kill me? JJ asked while laughing. Of course not. You're my little brother and besides, I know it was an accident. Yeah my phone is gonna be covered in drool, but it will still work. She smiled as she planted playfull kisses all over his face, making him giggle.

come on, you wanna watch a movie with us downstairs? Kara's making popcorn. Laurel asked. Ok. JJ smiled. She took him by his hand and led him downstairs to the living room where eveyone else was gathered. You guys need me to take Jenna, or will you be fine? Nora asked. We'll be fine mom. Alex replied. Yeah, she'll be fine with us mom. Oliver said. Ok. Nora smiled before going upstairs with Henry.

The kids spent the evening watching movies together.
