*Avery's POV*
I grabbed my phone from the woman, giving her a glare as she just threw it in before. She just shrugged and walked away, I rolled my eyes. I started to walk out of the hall, waiting for Faith.
As soon as I saw her, she ran up to me. "Are we off on the bus or walking?" She asks and I say the bus. Kade doesn't get the bus or walk, his dad gives takes him to school and home in the car. He always offers me and Faith a ride, but we both prefer the bus.
We sit on the bus, we always sit near each other and not next to each other. You are probably thinking, why? It's because we prefer it as we can put the bags on the seat next to us. She doesn't live far from school so she gets off at the first stop. While I have to wait until the last stop and still walk 10 minutes.
As soon as she leaves, I grab my phone and put my Beat earphones in. I smile as I start to listen to Ed Sheeran, he is my idol and always will be. Currently, I was listening to Kiss me.
I'm only 13, I don't believe in love. Love is just another word in the dictionary, I only ever feel love towards close friends and my mum and step dad. I don't believe there is a such thing as 'Romantic Love' as you may call it.
I hum along as stare out the bus window, looking past the council estates. (I'm not judging if you live in one, because some are actually really nice!)
I wouldn't be able to live in or near one, I see lots of people with bags under their eyes and red eyes as they are on drugs. I live in a nice town, with many posh people.
My mother and step father have high paid jobs. My mother is a lawyer, and my step father is a Consultant. They are very well paid and that's why I get many luxuries.
I get off the bus, looking around my town. I pass the sweetshop, I might as well buy something. I walk in and look at the selection of sweets. I decide to get a bag of Starbursts and a bag of Moams.
I look to see the owner of the Sweetshop, Patty, counting up the money in her cash register. I smile warmly at her as I walk towards her. I place the sweet packets on the table, waiting for her to check them out.
She scans them, "That will be £3.98 pence." I search through my pocket, only to find two pounds. Oh poop.
"I'm £2 short, I will just take the Moams please Patty." I say and feel my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. She just grins.
"It's on the house Avery." She says and I thank her and put the two bags of sweets in my bag. "Bye Avery!" She says and I give her a small wave.
I've known Patty for almost 2 years, when I started going to high school I would come by everyday and buy something. She was an old lady but was very sweet, she knows my mum well too.
I get to my house, looking at the flower beds. I smile to myself and walk through the door, "Hello Mum, hi Steve!" I shout and walk into the kitchen. I grab a box of grapes and sit on the stool in the kitchen and place the grapes on the island.
I see my mum and Steve walk in, my mum was grinning while Steve have me a sympathetic smile.. Why? "Hun, we have to talk.." My mum said, her grin falling down a bit. I nod for her to carry on.
"I've been offered a job which gives me a higher wage!" She smiles really widely and I grin.
"I'm really happy for you mum!" I jump off the stool and hug her.
"But there is some bad news.." She says, nothing can put the smile on my face down, can it?
"We're.."
