"It's all your fault. I'm dead because of you" my dad said. "No Dad!!" I screamed, sobbing. My dads ghost vanished, leaving me on the floor of the woods all alone. I tried to get up, I couldn't. "Help!" I yelled. No one could hear me. There was not one person in sight. "Someone please help me" I said, almost whispering. Suddenly, I heard my name. "Sarah? Wake up! It's just a dream" I heard a familiar voice say. I open my eyes, barely awake. I see Derek. He looks worried. "Are you alright?" he said, pulling me into a hug. I couldn't help but cry, that dream felt so real. "It's okay" he said, still hugging me. "Sorry, I just- I had a bad dream." I said. "No need to apologize, it happens to the best of us. You know, when I was younger and my dad died I had nightmares all the time, heck I still even have them now sometimes. There's nothing to be ashamed of, it's normal to have nightmares, especially after going through a trauma like that." Derek was being so understanding. "How did your dad die?" I panicked, as I accidentally let that slip out. "Sorry, that slipped out." I said. "It's okay don't worry, I don't mind. He was shot for his watch." Derek said. "Oh, I'm sorry" I said, not knowing what to say. "It's okay Sarah." He said, with light chuckle. "There's still a few more hours till we have to be up, try to get some sleep, okay?" Derek said. I replied okay.It felt like just as I fell asleep my alarm went off.
I decided that I shouldn't just lay in bed until someone came and told me that I needed to get up. So I actually got out of bed. I began to get ready, got dressed, pulled up my hair, you know, the normal things you do to get ready.
The morning flew by super fast, before I knew it, it was almost time to head towards the hospital. At this point, it feels like I work there hahaha. In the car, on the way to the hospital, I saw a bunch of geese flying in the sky. They remind me of my mom. My mom would always tell me that her spirit animal was a goose. I softly chuckled, wiping the tear that slipped out. Man I miss my mom. "You alright Sarah" Meredith asked. "Yeah, I just miss my mom." I replied. "I miss my mom all the time, even though she was mean to me a lot, I still miss her." Meredith replied. Oh my goodness, both of them have dead parents? Maybe that's why they sorta took me in.
At the hospital, nothing exciting really happens, which is odd. Usually there's at least something going on. There's barely any surgery's, and the ones that are going on, aren't exciting. I'm so bored. Maybe I should sneak into chief Webbers office?? I left the room I was in to go see my #bff Richard Webber! I waved at the nurses while passing the nurses station, I'm on a first name basis with the nurses now (which is closer than half of the residents here, which I find odd.) Now that I think about it, I really like the word odd. I finally made it to Webber's office. First, I knocked on the door to see if he was in there, if he wasn't I was just going to sneak in anyways. "Come in" I hear from the other side of the door. A smile spreads across my face as I hear his voice. I walk in. "What's up best friend!!" I say, jokingly. "Hello Sarah" Richard says with a slight chuckle. "How are you today?" I asked. "Pretty good now that you're here, today has been soo slow." He replied. "I know right! I was super bored but I decided to come see my bff" I said. Richard giggled, "Wanna play monopoly?" he asked. "Yes! Do you just have monopoly sitting in your office?" This man is full of surprises sometimes. "Hey, you never know." He said.
About an hour and a half later, we were still playing monopoly. We are on round two, and man is it getting intense. I'm not sure if you're only supposed to have two people play monopoly, but it works so I guess it's okay. "Wait, don't you have chief things to do?" I asked. "Nope, I finished them all already. Don't you have school or something to do?" He replied. "Nope, already finished everything for the rest of the week." I answered.
We decided to stop playing monopoly, and watch this movie called "my girl" I've never seen it before, but Richy said it was good and I trust his taste in movies so I think it's gonna be good.
Oh my gosh. That was the saddest movie I have ever watched. The ending was so terribly sad oh my goodness. Even Richard is crying. You know the saying "that's enough to make a grown man cry"? That's literally the movie my girl. Now the credits are rolling on the old tv, and Richard is singing along. "I got sunshine, on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside, I'm in the month of may. Sooo Id guess you'd say, what can make me feel this way? My girl. Talkin bout my girl." Richard sang. Oh my goodness. I started to sing along, I'm not sure how I know the words to this song, but it is such a good song.
There's only a few hours left till we can go home, so me and Richard decided to watch another movie in the meantime. He has a whole shelf full of movies that are super old, and some more recent. Richard let me choose, but I didn't know any of the movies on the shelf. I chose one called "13 going on 30" it has Jennifer Garner in it, so it has to be pretty good. As the movie began, I started to wonder why Richard owned this on dvd. I asked him. "It was on sale, and I needed more movies for days like this." He answered. That's a valid reason.
The movie just ended. It was SO good, oh my gosh. The ending was literally perfect. It's like reading a book, where the main character has bad stuff happen to them, and then in the ending they get everything that they had dreamed of. Me and Richard are both smiling so big. "That was a good movie" I say. "I definitely agree" Richard replied. Right then, there was a knock on the door. "Hey Sarah, it's time to go" Derek said as he walked in. "Okay" I said. "Bye Richard, see you soon!" I said while waving goodbye. "Bye bye Sarah see you later!"
"Did you have fun hanging out with the chief?" Derek asked. "Yes!! We watched two movies, and played two round of monopoly." I said, excitedly. "Also, I'm sorry I left the room that you dropped me off at this morning, I got insanely bored after finishing my homework." I said. "Oh don't worry about it! I'm glad you had fun! I'm sure Chief Webber had lots of fun too!" Derek said. "Definitely yes" I said with a giggle. "What movies did you guys watch?" Meredith asked as we got in the car. "We watched 'My girl' and '13 going on 30" I said. "Oh gosh, those are good movies, but my girl was sooo sad." Derek and Meredith both said, almost in sync. I laughed at them talking at the same time.
As we pulled up in the driveway, I was so ready to be home. As soon as the car stopped and Derek parked, I jumped out of the car. Today felt so long. Derek unlocked the front door and I immediately took of my shoes and jumped on the couch, ready to chill out in my new favorite place with some of my new favorite people. I'm so grateful for this family.
