"This is my temporary office—at least until my dad steps down and passes the Alpha title to me," Mason says, leading me into a room anchored by a rich mahogany desk, a large bay window, and a plush cream sofa flanked by cozy armchairs.

For two hours, Mason leads me through the pack house—a grand, sprawling building with more rooms than I can count. Yet despite its massive size, what strikes me most isn't the architecture, but the people. Everyone we pass wears a genuine smile, making Mason's pack feel less like a territory and more like a tight-knit family.

"I love it." I tell him while looking around. He smiles before pulling me toward his desk and walking behind it to sit in his oversized chair.

Without warning, he pulls me onto his lap. I gasp, surprised by his actions, and he smirks when he sees how flustered it makes me.

"What are you doing?" I ask him in a shaky voice when he runs his nose up and down the curve of my neck. I shiver when I feel his warm breath on my skin.

He ignores my questions and instead places a gentle kiss to the place on my neck where his mark will one day go.

It sends a jolt of electricity racing through my body, and I jump slightly. Mason chuckles quietly at my body's reaction to him.

"Relax, Paisley." He says into my ear, and I can't help but do just that. Being in Mason's arms is the closest I've felt to being content since my mom passed away.

"I love having you in my arms." He says, and I smile. I pull back so I can look into his eyes and I'm almost surprised when I see the deep emotion behind them. It's a combination of what looks like devotion and dare I say love.

"Come on. There's one more place I want to show you." He says before he stands us up and leads me out of the room.

A few minutes later, we're making our way outside to the back of the house where the yard meets the woods.

"Just a little further," Mason says while holding my hand in his.

Is he bringing me out here to kill me?

My wolf scoffs in my head.

Mate would never.

I roll my eyes at her and bring my focus back to Mason as he leads us to a clearing.

I gasp in surprise as I take in my surroundings.

"Mason, this is beautiful," I say honestly while looking around.

Every color imaginable spills across the clearing in a vibrant blanket of flowers, while graceful willow trees drape around the perimeter, tucking the space safely away from the rest of the world.

This place is absolutely breathtaking.

"I used to come here all the time as a kid. It's a great place to think or just be alone." Mason says while pulling me into his arms.

"Thank you for showing it to me. I love it." I turn around in his arms to face him and gently peck his cheek.

"Paisley, I know we never got along as kids, and I know finding out I'm your mate was a shock, but I want this. I want you—more than I've ever wanted anything. And I promise to be the best mate I can possibly be," he says, searching my eyes.
