It had been a week since the coronation, your sickness hadn't left. The infirmary was starting to feel more like home than your room was. The doctors were baffled, saying that even their strongest medicines weren't helping. Your parents were concerned, you had heard your father one night outside your door talking to one of the doctors. They were saying that whatever sickness you had was a lot like the sickness Arianna had when she was pregnant with Rapunzel. This made you even more concerned, because that flower, the one that saved your mother was no longer existent.
You sat up in your bed, looking at the white walls of the room. An arched stained window allowed light to bleed into the room. You were cold and hot. Like always. You felt a little better than you had yesterday. Yesterday you were feverish and hardly able to keep your eyes open. But today you felt very capable.
Throwing the covers off of your legs you crawled out of bed, you were supposed to stay in the infirmary until you got better, but you were restless and wanted to go outside and get some fresh air. You quietly stepped over to the door. With no shoes on, your footsteps were much quieter. You slowly opened the door, looking out to see if there was anyone around you who could stop you from leaving. You were surprised to see that the hallway was empty. Thinking about what you should do you quickly made your way out of the room and down the hallway. You were going to use the secret passage so you could make it outside without being seen.
As you turned a corner you rammed right into Cassandra and Rapunzel, "What are you doing out of your room kid?" She asked, after taking a glance at her you noticed she was wearing her fighting outfit, meaning that she was leaving the castle.
"Please take me with you!" You begged, "I can't stand being in that room any longer! It's so stuffy in there and honestly, I feel fine!" You lied, you didn't exactly feel fine, you just felt a little less sick than you had yesterday.
Cassandra and Rapunzel shared a glance, "I don't know..." The raven-haired woman started, "If your parents find out..."
"If they find out, I'll blame it on me." Rapunzel said, "Besides, this wizard guy might be able to cure her sickness."
Your eyes lit up and you turned back to Cassandra, sending her a pleading look.
"Ahg- fine." She waved you off, "But don't blame me if we get in trouble and I get sent to a convent."
You cheered silently before following the two down the hall and to the secret tunnel.
As you three were walking in the tunnel you turned to Rapunzel, "Wizard, huh?"
"Yeah, apparently his name is Varian. And he might be able to help figure things out about my hair!" She started, "And he might even be able to help out with your fever... How are you feeling by the way?" She asked, concern in her eyes.
You shrugged, "I feel much better than yesterday. It comes in waves though."
"Oh." She said, not sure how to continue the conversation.
You were very excited to meet this Varian guy. You had never met a real Wizard before, you wondered if he was like the ones in the stories. Long grey beard, pointy hat, a big staff with a magic stone on it. Wizards just sounded so cool to you!
After making it out of the tunnel the three of you found your horses, Margo and Fidela, Cassandra rode on Fidela while you and Rapunzel were on Margo. You repeated the same process that you did the first night you snuck out, going over the docks, and walking through the woods. Once you were in the woods you all found a path and decided to trot slowly. As you passed by the Snuggly Duckling you glanced inside, seeing all of the men inside looking bored. You turned the other way, deciding that looking at the scenery was way more interesting.
