Chapter 13
The slight change was brief, but Dana had noticed. Clyde had been less cheerful. It had been a week and he still moped around the front yard while they did experiments and still unwillingly dragged himself out of bed for the midnight tests.
That week he'd been so lost in thought that not even Dana could feel a presence inside of him.
"Hey Clyde?" Dana sat on the porch step and pulled Clyde down by his shirt sleeve. "It's been a week, what's been going on?"
"I just- I don't know." Clyde mumbled.
"No, come on. Just try, spit out a few words and I'll put the words together."
"I just wanted to be appreciated and loved. I don't even know that I liked Jane all that much. I just knew that she needed me, even as just a prize, it felt good to be needed. But it wasnt being needed, it was being used." Clydes voice turned harsh as his usual beautiful face turned hostile.
"I could appreciate you, and I'll love you. All I need is for you to be alive." Then she took her only flicker of courage and kisses him.
He kisses her back harder. Until they were panting and staring into each others eyes. The morning sun rising to bring light to the world. The color in their eyes shining beautifully from the lust and need.
