A New World

Part 1

On the exact day every year people die, Not from old age or illness but by the government who rule the world. My story scares me to tell, the story of my losses, and hardship to protect those i love. I made it though and i dont regret a single thing i had done then because it led me to now.

Today was August 4th the day of the thinning test, a government test that everyone over the age of 10 does every year and if you fail you die but this year is worse than any other year as my sister now does it too. My name is Raven Skye im 16 and iv made it this far, how much further will i go? (Raven)

I woke from my bed turning over to face my 10 year old sister who lays in the bed beside me. "Wake up Ricky" i somewhat yell to her. "Why? is it government inspection day?" she asked tired "I wish Ricky, Today is August 4th" i say to her which makes her look at me "the test" she whispers to which i nod. (Ricky)

My Mother was killed many years ago because she failed her test and all we have left are each other and our father Richard. the world had practically ended, no food was able to be grown and water was scarce which is the reason for the test, to have more food. The government controls us, what we do, what we eat, what we drink, what we wear and where we live. Girls had to wear a white dress and boys wore a black shirt and black pants. my sister and I got ready and ate our breakfast rashins which was a piece of bread and water. Adults were tested first so my father had already left.

"Do you think ill pass?" Ricky sadly asks "Rick your going to pass i know you are" i say hugging her "Is Ezra coming?" she asked me "yeah he'll be here any minute" i smile. Ezra Flynn is my best friend, he has been for years we've gone through every test together hes the smartest kid i know.

Soon enough the doorbell rang and i opened it "How you feeling Rave" he asked straight away "Scared" i state to which he nods "You ready Ricky?" he asked her "Sure am Ezra" she says.(Ezra)

we walk together in silence heading towards the government test building which now has guards heavily protecting the area with guns ready to shoot anyone. "10 year olds this way for your test immedietly!" a guard yelled and i looked at Ricky to see her teary eyed "i love you Ricky okay? take your time dont rush and be calm" i say hugging her as tears flowed down my face as she walked off and Ezra hugged me "Shes going to be alright Rave" she whispers into my ear.

we waited until we were called before making our way to the room but before that we were stopped by a lady who took a big vial of our blood before entering. Each test was different meaning cheating was impossible. i sat next to Ezra looking at him when a government person walked in explaining why we do this.

"Good morning. Im Marshall your test supervisor i do not wish to kill anyone who doesnt fail there test but disobey the rules and ill have no choice. The test is important those of you who fail and die are saving lives remember that. Now this all began when we started running out of food and water we had no choice but to kill those who arent smart so we would have resources for longer. the maximum amount of kids is 2 3 and over children die so dont have more than 2." he speaks saying the same thing as last year and the years before that.

My test was weird this year it had random questions and i hoped to god i got most of them right. We have 2 hours to complete the test and an hour had already gone past 3 people in my age had failed already and were dragged away by soldiers. half an hour went by and i still didnt complete my test yet when i heard screaming in the halls and saw my sister being dragged by two men "Ricky! NO they cant take her no!" i stand up and yell "shut it she failed" our test supervisor yelled pointing his gun at me "shes gonna die Ezra we have to do something!" i yell at him but all he does is take me into his arms.

i couldnt let her die i let go of Ezra and clicked every wrong answer on my test "Raven what the fuck did you do!?" Ezra panicked "im saving my sister" i whisper to him as two guards walk in and take me. "get your grubby hands off of me!" i yell at the men who just gripped me tighter. we walked along a corridor which i had never been in before.everything i could see was white and no people i was scared what if i wasnt even being taken to her? what if im going the opposite way?

walking kept going and i was beginning to get tired "Can i rest?" i asked the men who ignored me "i want to see my sister!" i shout at them only for them to ignore me once again. We walked into a room, a purple room thats all i saw before i was blindfolded and sat in a chair "Name" someone speaks "find out yourself you disgusting bastards!" i yell only to be slapped "Name!" they shout once again "Skye, Raven Skye" i whisper. "Family?" they ask "Sister Ricky skye and father mathew skye my mother was killed a few years ago" i state

"why kill us?" i question in the silence "you know the reason girl" they state "whatever just kill me get it over and done with" i sigh "you really think this is how it ends Raven? this is only the beginning child" a woman speaks taking my blindfold off i saw her she wasnt old and she had short blonde hair "what are you talking about?" i ask her scared "Youll find out in time" she whispered before laughing as two men held a gas mask to my face and i couldnt help but to breath. i remember her waving to me as my mind became fuzzy and then my vision was no longer.

(Now anytime in my story dont be afraid to point out spelling mistakes or any errors or things that dont make sense. i edited these at night so i was sleepy. i update every night also, Thank you!)
