Chapter 2- Your The Best!

Thomas POV

"Hey Stiles do you know a Thomas?" Dad asked me while I was eating breakfast. I almost choked.

"What? Thomas! Why?" Dad looked at me funny and said.

"Because it says Thomas on this letter but our address" I stood up and ran for the letter, falling and tripping on the way. 

"Oh ahh ya I know Thomas I think they live aaahhhh... that way I'll go give it to him!" I said pointing in two directions. My dad just sighed and walked upstairs. I ran into my car but didn't drive anywhere. I ripped open the envelope and pulled out the letter. The letter read..

Dear Thomas,

Sorry I'm writing to you,  I know how much you hate letters and I hate writing them but I only have your address and I had to get a new phone. Great news!  I know how much you miss me so I'm coming to see you in Beacon Hills! Okay fine I might have missed you a little.  I'm thinking of settling down just like you. Have a real life!! I'm tired of not having a home or family or friends. I’m tired of traveling from place to place. Thomas you're the only one left, the only one I have left so I'm coming to you. As you probably can guess I still haven't found anyone. I’ve been looking for almost a year but I just got word that they are wiping our memories of the maze, giving us fake memories and fake lives for us to remember.  You're the only one I know for sure will remember me... that I have. I've been doing this for 8 months and haven’t found a single one of them. I don't think I can't anymore.  Even if by chance I find them they won't even remember me! How would I even find them?  So I may be coming for some reason but I really miss you and I can't wait to see you.  Hopefully you get this before I come.  I'm getting a new phone in a week so I'll text you then but till then I hope this letter reaches you. I can’t wait to catch up! I’m sooooo excited to hear about the new life!

I was so happy but also sad. I looked at the time and realized I was going to be late and I still hadn't picked up Scott. I wiped my tears and looked at the silver lining.  Hailey's back! I set my phone on buzz so I would know if  she called. I couldn't stop smiling and Scott noticed when he got in the car.

"Dude you're late!" He said as he got in the car.

"Ya sorry I uh.. slept through my alarm". I said backing out of the driveway.  And then he saw my smile.

"Why are you smiling?" 

"Oh ah an old friend is coming to visit" 

"Really? Who?" Scott asked which caught me off guard.

"Ooh ahh you don't know her... she's from when I went to camp that summer" I said inpervizing on the spot. I forgot the stories we made up after they gave there fake memories. 

"Ohhh a girl!" Scott said. Thank god he was more concerned about the girl aspect than the how I met her one. 

"Ya we were super close!" I said and smiled remembering the maze and the first time we met. But then frowning remembering all my friends who I'm never going to see again. We got to school and I tried to forget about it for the time being. But I kept checking my phone all day.  And finally at lunch it started buzzing. I jumped up and pulled my phone out as fast as I could.

"Stiles you ok?" Scott asked.

"Oh ya its just my dad calling one sec" I said while walking away from them so they wouldn't hear. It was an unknown number so it had to be her. I picked it up.

"Hailey is that you?"

"Thomas!" 

"Its sooo good to hear your voice!" I sigh in relief.

"Well you'll get to see and hear the real thing tomorrow!" She said.

"Oh my god! Really! Thats awesome! How long are you staying?" 

"Wow I haven't even got there yet and you're asking when I'm leaving?" 

"No no it's just where are you going to stay?"

"Oh ya uh.."

"Don't worry you can stay at my place"

"Really! Oh thank god! you're the best! Love you!"

"Love you!" I said back with a smile.

"Well I have to go but I can't wait to see you!" she said and hung up. I walked back to the table and sat down. 

"So what's your dad want?" Allison asked.

"Oh just to tell me he has to work late" I said while eating my lunch.

"You sure it was your dad?" Issac asked and my head shot up.

"What?....Did you listen?!" I yelled at Isaac, scared he heard her call me Thomas.

"Maybe..ok yes but chill! I only heard 'your the best!' and then Scott made me stop.." 

"Ok maybe it wasn't my dad but it doesn't matter!"

"Is this the girl you were talking about this morning?" Scott asked.

"Ya maybe.. Why?" I said and Issac and Scott just looked at each other. "What?!" 

"Nothing.." They both said.

"Tell me!" I said angrily but low because if they heard anything it could be really bad.

"Your heart beats," Scott explained.

"What about it?" 

"It skipped a beat" 

"Ok and?" 

"Well your heart was beat got faster the whole time but it skipped a beat when she said love you"

"What! You said you only heard 'your the best' and stop doing that! I hate to break it to you but it's creepy! This is my life and personal stuff! And I don't like her! I just haven't seen her in forever! Stop invading my privacy!" I said and stormed off. I was so angry! First they listen in on my conversonses! Then listen to my heart beat and then accuse me of liking Hailey! Shes my bestfriend! I just miss her... I miss everyone. I started to calm down. I love it here but I know deep down this isn't home. Well I can't remember what's 'home' but I know it's not this. I think I need to see Hailey just to have a glimpse of my old life. I mean Issac could have rond everything! They talk about our past everyday like I remember but I don't! I just have to pretend as if I know what there talking about. They only gave them memories, not me. 

The bell rang and I got to class. I had to sit next to Scott and I thought this would be a better chance than ever to apologize. As soon as I sat down I turned to him.

“I’m sorry I went too far,” we said at the same time. We smiled. “No, let me go first,” said Scott. “I forget sometimes that you don't have super hearing and that it's weird and I shouldn’t have listened to your conversion and assumed things about you and Hailey. So in conclusionI’m sorry” He sighed 

“I am too. I shouldn’t have yelled at you and stormed off. I know you didn’t mean to introd” Everything was good! That's when I got a text saying 'I'll meet you at 5:00 at the spot'. I smiled, Hailey's going to love my new friends! I thought as I read the text.
