Oikawa's POV
Hinata was just so cute! Every little thing he did was just, the cutest thing ever! No wonder Kageyama liked him so much! He was so small and tiny, kind of like a rabbit! Maybe I should just call him chibi chan from now on.
I do wonder where Kageyama got him from? Was Hinata possibly a slave before? That would explain the basic skills he had. But slavery was banned 10 years ago. And besides, Kageyama would never consent to buy a slave. His morals were set.
Yeah, there was no possible way. But I do wonder where Kageyama found him. No possible commoner could be this... unique.
Perhaps he was a prostitute? No, he seemed too innocent for it. But perhaps he was faking it? But even Iwaizumi had deemed him 'not a threat'. And Iwaizumi's instincts were always on point.
Of course, Iwaizumi could be in the wrong but he (as much as Oikawa hated to admit it) most likely was not. So where exactly did Hinata come from? Although Kageyama would never in his lifetime ever buy a slave, maybe he rescued Hinata somehow and somewhere?
That seemed like the most likely possibility. Perhaps Iwaizumi had already thought of that possibility. He probably already did. I should discuss it with him later this evening.
3rd POV
Iwaizumi actually was not thinking about Hinata's heritage at all. He was more worried about the recent conflict between Tendou, the co-leader/king of Shiratorizawa and their own kingdom. The only reason they had a peace treaty with Shiratorizawa in the first place was because of Ushijima's interest in Oikawa.
Even if they didn't have the treaty, Iwaizumi was 99% sure they could defeat them, but not without hundreds of thousands of casualties. Which was what anyone with an ounce of common sense would try to avoid.
Iwaizumi knew that soon, Tendou's persuasive words would soon overrule Ushijima's interest. Which was why he absolutely had to drag Oikawa into one of their meetings. That way, Ushijima would still have his interest and Tendou would know that having a treaty with Aoba Johsai wasn't completely useless.
That was, unless Oikawa could act the right way which Iwaizumi knew he could, but only under a great amount of pressure and stress.
Iwaizumi shuddered. He could still remember the time the previous King had been poisoned and bedridden for almost 6 months. Oikawa changed from being carefree and cheerful to being tired and gloomy.
All the pressure from handling the kingdom's affairs had crashed down on Oikawa, suffocating him. And because Iwaizumi was only 12 at that time, he had no knowledge of how to assist Oikawa nor could he do anything to comfort him, having to never have learned how to deal with emotions nor manipulate them.
But that was besides the point. Right now, he had to convince Oikawa to act nicely. But if Oikawa really didnt want to, he would not push any further. After all, Oikawa's wellbeing and happiness were his priority.
But Oikawa's wellbeing and happiness would also depend on the Kingdom's wellbeing. And if Shiratorizawa declared war, there would be too much casualties. And too much casualties meant the kingdom would suffer. And the kingdom suffering would mean Oikawa's happiness and wellbeing would be on the line.
So basically, Iwaizumi was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Like every other day. Fuck. Not only did he have to worry about potential war, he had to worry about that Oikawa literally kidnapped the Queen on Karasuno. Which meant a potential war against Karasuno.
And if Karasuno teamed up with Shiratorizawa, he might as well just resign now. That was a great idea actually. But he knew he couldn't. He would stick with Oikawa until the end.
Sorry for the short chapter. I'm losing interest in haikyuu. but dont worry, i wont leave u guys hanging. i think. idk. school just started and i cannot-. like a major grade in the first week? wth
