Chapter 8

Announcer: Today we have, SHIKAMARU V.S. TEMARI!

Shikamaru: These people do not own Naruto *walks out of bounds*

Announcer: We have a winner, winner, winner! IT'S TEMARI!!!!!!

Announcer 2: WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Shikamaru: *glare*

Shikamaru

Shikamaru woke up with a yawn. He had fallen asleep in the forest for the 100th time in a row. He sighed and walked back to the village.

"Oh hi Shikamaru,!" one of his guards said with a smile as he crossed him.

"Hi," he said with a yawn
"You know about the Chunin Exams?" he asked.

"Yeah," he said with another yawn. He sighed and walked away. He bumped into his father, who was drinking a cup of tea.

"What are the Chunin Exams?" he asked his father.

"It is a long exam to see if you qualify to become a soldier. You can qualify or win. Winning gives you an even higher rank than most people and gives you a higher chance of becoming the emperor.

"I don't wanna become the emperor though," he said with a yawn, "too much work,"

His father chuckled and smiled.

"You are going to go in you know," he said.

"Yeah I know," he said, not yawning for once.

"It is today," his father said with a smile

"Okay," he said with a sigh. His father smiled and they walked away, to the Cloud Warpers. He stepped into one of them and thought about the Pale River of Light. All of a sudden, although not unexpected, they got teleported to where they wished, dropping from the clouds. Thankfully, the cloud had dropped them far away, so the people already there did not realize that they had such a fast way of transportation. Unsurprisingly and already assumed and calculated by Shikamaru, all the kingdoms were at peace and there were many people following him. Some participants, some guards and soldiers. His father himself had come to the exams to watch. He yawned yet again as he stepped into the premade arena in Sunagakure, near the pale river, which made sure that none of the people would use it to do a massacre. He sighed and went in, putting his hands behind his head, yawning. The crowd cheered as everyone entered. They were sorted into brackets.

"So, against this Kin person huh?" Shikamaru muttered underneath his breath, "What drag it will be,"

After watching several people fight, ( most of which he had slept through ), it was finally his turn. He walked into the fields and stretched.

"Ready, set, go!" the announcer yelled. The girl immediately ran towards him and started blowing into her flute ( non canon btw ). Waves of sound hit him as he clasped his hands by his ears, deafening himself. When he looked up, there were several of her.

"Kage bunshin?" he thought in his head, but he already knew, it was a genjutsu. Something was ticking him off about this girl. He suddenly jumped up and threw a kunai at the girl, which logged itself into her hair with a proud ping. He smiled.

"UGH! YOU ANNOY ME!" the girl yelled, throwing senbon at him. He quickly dodged and immediately formed up a plan. He vaulted him, threw a kunai, and threw another one as a distraction. He then threw another one, pushing the first kunai in a different direction. He repeated this over and over again in different directions so that it looked like one kunai was flying. Finally at the right time, he threw a shrunken and it pushed the kunai to the girl's shoulder, knockin her back and out of bounds.

"Shikamaru wins!" the announcer said. Shikamaru yawned. The girl was raging so much he though she was going to blow.

"What a drag," he thought. After waiting for another long term, he got put in again, this time against a Sunagakure girl called Temari. He dragged himself into the arena and yawned.

"Get up," Temari said, glaring daggers at him. "Wait...I know you"

"Fine, and yes I do know you" he said with a groan. Immediately when the round started she swung her giant fan and a gust of wind hit him.

"Why are girls alway so pushy to kill us?" he thought, "she's really pretty though,"

After a few minutes, he had learned to concentrate. He could get beaten. After a long time of thought and deciding, he decided to put up a fight. He used his shadow strangle jutsu, along with the combination of the holes from Naruto and Neijis fight to control her ( oh god that sounds weird ). He made her walk towards him and raise her hand.

"I quit," he said with a yawn. A collective gasp went through the crowd.

"Why?" Temari asked with a confused look on her face.

"I'm tired and have too little chakra," he said with a smile. Temari smiled and bowed a thanks. After he had walked back into the crowd, his father came to him and sat down.

"That was smart," his father said to him. He started to open his mouth to reject the sarcasm but suddenly realized that he was not being sarcastic.

"I know. I was really tired," Shikamaru said, leaning backwards. His father smiled and mouthed "watch it," Shikamaru sat up, confused. His father jerked his head backwards. Shikamru looked backwards and flinched. He had been laying on Temari's legs. She was blushing and Gaara, her brother was glaring at him, sharpening a sand dagger threateningly on a piece of sandstone. He blushed and looked away, remembering to not look back or lean back. However dreariness and sleep eventually wore him over and he fell asleep. When he woke up, he was staring up at someone glaring at him. It was Gaara.

"Umm, hi?" I said, leaning back up.

"You know what you were doing approximately 20 minutes ago?" he asked with a sneer,

"No?" I said, frowning.

"Laying. On. My. Sister's. Legs" he said, glaring at him. Shikamaru blushed and sat up.

"Fine. What a drag," he said, yawning. Gaara glared at him some more.

"Fine," Shikamaru said with a frown.

"Hi," a voice said from the left of Shikamaru. It was Temari.

"Oh hi," Gaara and Shikamaru said together. Temari smiled and sat back down behind Shikamaru.

"Good match," she said with a smile, "guess I'm moving up to the quarterfinals ( non-canon )" Shikamaru smiled.

"Good for you," he said before falling asleep, leaning onto her legs, with a Gaara "safekeeping"/glaring at him.
