SIX

Sammy texted me last night and said we should meet up at the movies. I don't know where the movies are... Hate being in an unfamiliar city. Back in Atlanta, I know every street, store, mall, movie theater, you name it. Here... don't even bother asking me for directions. So I asked him to pick us up.

"Remind me why I agreed to this blind date." Daniela entered the room as I finished putting my shoes on.

"Because I have a date with Austin and you practically yelled at me for leaving you alone for the night." I rolled my eyes and looked in the mirror. I'm planning on leaving with Austin once the movie ends, and he told me not to dress too fancy, so I settled on light blue jean shorts, a flower patterned long shirt, and my favorite pair of white and blue Jordan's.

"Right. So when did you have the time to arrange a blind date?" Daniela questioned as she grabbed her phone off the charger. Stop with the questions. Please!

"I told you. I met Sammy on the beach and told me he was looking for someone for his friend. I offered you up and we swapped numbers." I groaned in annoyance and heard my phone buzz. "They're here." I informed her as I read Sammy's message. "Now. I know you and Zach kind of have a thing, but don't just push the guy away just because he may not meet your standards. Play the night out and if you don't like him, I promise you won't have to see him again." I pep-talked her as we made our way to the elevator.

-------

The air was humid and I feel sticky and disgusting. Will I ever get used to Miami's weather?

Sammy had a 2013 black BMW 3 Series; it was beautiful. I jumped into the front seat and looked back at his friend.

"Hey. I'm Isaiah." He puts his hand out for me to shake, and I do.

"Rosy." I smile and signal to Daniela. "That's my friend, Daniela." She smiles at him and he hugs her. How cute.

"So we decided on dinner, then a movie. Is that okay?" Sammy asked as we pulled out onto Ocean Dr.

"Yeah, that's fine. Just remember, I have to be back before 6." I'm hoping this dinner and movie fly by because I'm impatient for the date Austin has planned.

-------

We pull up to an unfamiliar, but fancy enough restaurant. We all order a variety of pastas and engage in small talk. Isaiah and Sammy have known each other since they were 8 and have been friends since. It's kind of cute actually. We stick around for a little bit once we're done eating, and just to talk. We're laughing at childhood and recent memories; it's a fun time.

I steal a look at the time, and it's 3:50. I have 2 hours until I have to leave

"We should get going." I instantly speak up, and all eyes turn to me.

"Are we boring you?" Sammy questions playfully.

"No. Your stories of pulling pranks on each other are extremely interesting and funny, but it's almost 4 and movies run over an hour..." I trail off not wanting to give too much away. There's something about mentioning another date that doesn't feel right. Not that this is a date. Is it?

"Okay, okay." Sammy smiles and leaves money for the waiter.

"I'll pay for the movies." I tell him as we make our way out. He looks at me in protest, but I give him my puppy eyes and he gives in.

-------

We decide on watching Let's Be Cops and I pay the $40 worth of tickets. Sammy suggests we sit in the very back of the theater for view purposes, but I can't help, but think of other reasons. Not liking the direction of my thoughts, I push it away and take my seat between Isaiah and Sammy.
