Peter was ecstatic. The idea of Tony trusting him to show a new Avenger around New York was amazing. He'd been unable to focus all day, just itching to be able to go out. Ned was of course suspicious of him - he knew about Peter being Spiderman, but he had no clue about who y/n was or what Peter was doing after school. As soon as the bell rung, Peter shot up out of his seat, packing his things in to his backpack as fast as he could. "Hey! Why're you in such a rush? I thought I was staying at your place tonight?" Ned asked, rushing after Peter as he hurried down the busy hallways. Peter shook his head, continuing to hurry as fast as he could without running. "Sorry, man! Change of plans!" He exclaimed, glancing back to Ned with a knowing look. Ned seemed confused for a moment before his eyes widened a little in realisation. "Ohhh!" He gasped, slowing down his rushing a little. Ned couldn't help but smile, he found it so cool that his best friend was Spiderman. He just hoped that Peter would fill him in about it all later. Peter was under strict instruction by Tony not to say a word about y/n, not even with the theories. Which he understood, he kept his identity secret too. But he was still so, so curious about her past - even if Tony said not to pry.
Once Peter was far enough away from his school, he broke out in a run. Full of excitement and anticipation as he weaved through the busy streets. Peter eventually disappeared in to the alleyway where he always kept his suit. Obviously not a good idea, but it hadn't been found yet. He hummed to himself quietly as he threw his backpack down, hurrying over to the other side of the dumpster to grab the bag with his suit in it. But, as he reached behind, his hand was met with nothing. Peter's heart seemed to drop, scrambling to search around behind the dumpster. Someone had his suit. Oh my god. Someone had stolen his suit. "No no no.. not today!" Peter murmured to himself, eyes wide with fear. Tony was going to kill him.
"Looking for something?" A voice called out from behind Peter, causing his heart to drop even more. He took a few deep breaths to prepare himself, slowly standing up and turning around to meet the person that had stolen his suit. Ready to fight for it. But, as he turned around, he seemed to laugh a little out of embarrassment. It was y/n. She was hanging upside down from webs she'd attached to a fire escape up above. Already mimicking Peter's powers. She had Peter's backpack in one hand, holding it out for him to take with a smile. She didn't have her mask on just yet, but she was ready to put it on. "You really need a better hiding spot." Y/n hummed, watching as Peter took the backpack. Peter sighed a little, rolling his eyes as he hid behind the dumpster so he could change in to his suit. "I know, I know. But nobody knows it's me! I can't just hide it in my locker." He shrugged. Y/n hummed a little, pulling herself up from the webs and dropping back down so she wasn't hanging anymore. "How do you cope with all this... webby stuff? It's so sticky." She complained with a frown, earning a laugh from Peter. He emerged from the dumpster in his suit, giving y/n a shrug in response. "You get used to it, I guess!"
Soon enough, the pair were swinging around New York together. It was so, so fun. Y/n was constantly full of adrenaline, but laughing the whole time. There'd been a few close calls where Peter had to swing in and stop y/n from crashing in to a wall, but other than that it was amazing. It took a while for y/n to get used to, but she was quickly able to learn the best places to shoot webs. The freedom mixed with the rush of people watching from down below was something y/n had never felt before, but she wasn't scared of it. She felt like a kid again, free to do whatever she pleased. Of course Peter made it fun, making up little challenges and races - well, he said he'd made it up, but it was obvious he'd been doing this on his own anyway. But y/n didn't mind, she was having an amazing time. It almost helped her forget about what was going on in her mind, just for a little while.
The pair eventually ended up sat on the roof of one of the tallest buildings they could find. Their feet swung freely over the edge without a care in the world, and their masks were laid out behind them. Peter had managed to get them some popsicles, so there they were, sat in a comfortable silence, enjoying the popsicles as the sun went down. Y/n had had a great time, she'd never felt more free before, and was still buzzing with adrenaline over it. Of course there she had a few bruises here and there from accidentally crashing in to a few things, but she didn't seem to care. It had all been so fun. Her hair stuck to her face slightly due to the sticky summer heat, but she was too focused on the popsicle to care. Peter was sat beside her, enjoying the view that he was so used to enjoying alone. It was nice to be able to have someone that had the same powers as him - well, at least mimic his powers. But he was still so curious about y/n. Of course he knew small bits, but not a lot, Tony had been keeping it from him. "How does it feel? Y'know... To have your mind back?" He asked curiously, seeming to tense a little as he realised he'd probably pushed it too far. But y/n didn't seem to mind, shrugging a little as she kept her eyes on the sunset. "It's... weird." She murmured with a sigh, unsure of how to word it. "I don't even know who I am. Of course I know my name, but my past is still so blurry. I don't know how I got these powers, I don't know anything." Y/n sighed, not realising that she'd begun to ramble. Peter watched y/n with a sympathetic look in his eyes, but she didn't turn to face him, too focused on the popsicle and the sunset. "Well I think you're pretty cool. It's nice having someone that can have the same powers as me." He grinned. Y/n couldn't help but smile a little, glancing over at Peter before looking back at the sunset. It was nice that someone thought of her as 'cool' and not a monster. "Thanks, kid." She murmured happily.
Of course the public that had seen y/n and Peter swinging around were going crazy with theories of who this new person was. There had been so, so many photos of her posted online, but nobody had a picture of her face. It was funny to see some of the theories, but what was really nice was the fact that y/n wasn't a shadow anymore. She wasn't this hidden person. She was her own person. And that was what Tony ultimately wanted to prove with today.
