Chapter 11 | Girl Danger's first mission

My heart was racing. I had my first mission, alone.

"Swellview glass shop eh? Piece of cake" I thought.

I arrived at the robbery. I hid behind the door trying to get a glimpse of what was going on.

"I said give me all your money!" A man from inside shouted. He was holding the glass shop owner by his neck.

"I told you I told you it's in the register but I can't get it out!" The owner replied, trying to catch a breath.

Enough was enough. I stormed in. Breaking the door open, which was locked.

"Not on my watch" I said in a heroic voice.

"And who are you? And why are you dressed up as Kid Danger in a skirt?" The robber said in a snarky way.

"I'm Girl Danger". I replied. "I work for Captain Man."

"Is he here?" The robber questioned, he looked around me in question, raising an eyebrow.

"No." I responded. "Only me".

The robber eyed me up and down and scoffed, he turned to the owner, which was still gasping for air. He began to demand for the money again.

I picked up a baseball bat which I found from the dumpster outside.

I hit him in the head, he got knocked out.

The store owner took a huge breath, he looked purple.
"Now that was easy!" I shouted in my head, holding the bat above my head.

Until I saw 2 other men come out the back room, they were robbers also.

"Uh oh" I said.

They looked at me. I fought back instantly, like how I was taught in training.

We were fighting like you see in those superhero movies, but Swellview version. I hit them in the head with the glass but didn't knock them out. Dodged a few punches and kicks. I had it in the bag. I was winning.

They were all passed out.

I put my hands on my hips. Sighing in relief.

Until the man who was holding the owner by his neck woke up without me realising, and hit me in the head with the baseball bat from before.

I got knocked out.

The man laughed. "Stupid wannabe superhero." He let out an evil laugh.

I was lying on the floor, lifeless, it was the end of me, he was going to kill me, of course.
I woke up when he was about to smash my head in with the bat.

"NOOOOOOO!!!" I screamed, covering my head with my hands.

He stopped. The weapon was inches away from my head.

"Oh no you don't".
It was Henry.

He fought the robber, knocking him out, this time.

The room was silent.

"K-kid danger!" I gasped. "Why are you here?"

"I knew something was wrong, I had to come as soon as possible. I wanted to keep you safe."

"Where's captain man?"?

"He's not here, only me."

"Oh, okay." I replied. "Thank you, for coming, if it wasn't for you god knows what would've happened."

Henry smiled. "My pleasure."

He helped me up from the floor, grabbing onto his hand.

We were at eye level, inches away from each other, we smiled at each other, it felt like no one was around us.

We locked eyes.

And we kissed.

We smiled again.
"Let's go, Henry said."

I grinned, looking back at all the crime scene, hearing police cars getting closer and closer.

We left the scene.

Henry was driving in the man-copter. If you don't know what it is it's the helicopter Henry and Ray use to get around everywhere. Hopefully I can fly one day when I learn how.

There was awkward silence, until Henry decided to say something.

"Al, ever since... you know... you came in, I've liked you. Every time I see you I get butterflies, just thinking about you I get excited."

"I feel the same way." I replied. "When I saw you for the first time in Junk N' Stuff I couldn't stop thinking about you."

We laughed at the same time, it was slightly awkward.

"Hey, maybe I should give you my phone number, I should've asked for it as soon as I got the job to be fair." I said.

"Sure!" Henry responded.

I got my phone out my pocket and read out his phone number whilst I put it in my contacts.

Soon after we landed on the helicopter pad, which is above the man cave.

I transformed back into my normal clothes.

"Soo i'll see you around, Henry." I said shortly after with a smile on my face, I started to get out of the man-copter.

"WAIT!" Henry shouted.

"Yes?"

"So we're a...you know... thing now?" Henry said with a shaky voice.

"I guess so! I shouted back."

"Great!" Henry cheered. "

"See you at school on Monday I guess!"

"Yup! See ya!"
I waved to him.

And that was the start of our relationship. And the start of something much worse.

Little did I know, someone was waiting, waiting to tell Henry false information, what would destroy my career, and what I worked for.
