I rested my head on Catra's shoulder, and stared at the infinite stretch of silver stars outside the window of our space pod.
"I know," Catra breathed, understanding exactly what I was thinking. "They're beautiful."
"What else do you think is out there that we haven't seen yet?" I asked, thinking about all that must lie beyond the dimension of despondos where Etheria had remained hidden from Horde Prime for thousands of years.
Catra turned towards me, and took my hand. "I don't know, but we're going to find out, together."
I touched my forehead to hers. "Catra," I said, "When you fell off the ledge in Horde Prime's ship I didn't know what I would do if you... If you..."
"Adora," Catra said, looking into my eyes. "You almost died too, remember? We saved each other. I'm not ever going to lose you again."
"And I'm not losing you," I said, recalling the moment I leaped off the platform and fell into the abyss where Catra's broken body lay, not knowing if either of us would survive.
"Promise?" Catra asked.
"I promise," I said, taking her hand and holding it firmly in mine.
CRASH
Our pod shuddered as something outside slammed into it. Catra and I were thrown apart and I crashed into a metal wall. Catra was flung onto the floor. "What was that?" Catra screamed, her eyes wide and disoriented. I grabbed her hand to help her up, and noticed a small cut on her cheek from the fall.
"I don't know," I said, feeling my Horde training instincts take over. "We need to find out." (Step one: Assess situation) We scrambled to the control panel, and I called out Darla's name, the piloting system Entrapta had programmed into the space pod. "Darla!" I yelled. "What's happening?"
"An asteroid has hit the ship. We are now off course and currently heading towards the planet Zorra. I would advise all aboard to buckle their seatbelts, as we will be entering the planet's atmosphere momentarily."
(Step two: Follow orders) Catra and I leaped into our seats in front of the control panel and buckled in just as the space pod began to shake. Catra grabbed my hand, her nails almost digging into my skin as our hearts thundered and the air grew hotter around us. But I looked at her, only at her, as our pod raced a million miles a minute towards the grounds of an alien world.
