"So this is the place" Marcus happily showed Chaeyoung around. Light wind was blowing which made the leaves of a nearby trees fall. They were in an abandoned park near a restaurant
There were a few rusted swings and slides. Other than that it was pretty much empty.

"I used to come here to play when I was young" chae reminiscenced. "I thought so. It is the only park (if you will) near your house. " He joked and gave out a small laugh "Come on! Let's go up the slide" he said and offered her his hand.

They climbed on the slide and sat cross legged, facing each other. "So Y/N told me about what happened. I'm really sorry."Chaeyoung said with a sad look.
"Yeah. The worst thing is I couldn't do anything. It was around early morning when I got the news.

I still remember feeling empty. Like I couldn't understand anything at that time. Sometimes, I feel like if I could have prevented it." He sighed thinking about it.

Marcus still blamed himself for this. He was his best friend. How could he not see the signs? How could he not understand that his best friend needed help? He still missed him a lot.

"No! Don't ever think that this is your fault! It was completely his choice. You did all that you could. I'm sure you were an amazing friend" Chaeyoung assured with a smile. "Thanks" he responded.

"So you and Y/N are really good friends? " Marcus bragged as chae rolled her eyes at him. "Y/N doesn't stop talking about you, you know?" He gibbed. "Yeah well that's because she's an amazing friend." Chaeyoung spoke, thinking about Y/N and the past week.

Marcus got up and slid down and gestured chae to do the same. She followed him and landed on her legs.
He then went towards the swings and waited for Chaeyoung. Chae went and sat down on the swing.

He gently started pushing the swing from the front so that he faced chae.
"She gave me a very big lecture about you!" Marcus chucked as he informed chae. "What?? About what?" She urged.
"Nope! Not gonna spill the tea! She will literally kill me" Marcus teased with a sneaky look. He made a killing gesture which made Chaeyoung burst into laughter.

"He's definitely cute! And from what
Y/N told me, he's a kind person too." She thought to herself as she approached him. "So do you like me?" He bluntly asked while gazing at chae. "Umm.." chae couldn't think of an answer. She waited till the swing went away from him.

"It's okay if you don't. I don't wanna pressurise you Chaeyoung" he calmly assured her. He looked a little disappointed and tried to hide it. But chae caught that. She used her legs to stop the swing so that she could see him clearly.

"It's not that. I actually like you Marcus. But the problem is that I have never dated anyone" chae disclosed nervously.

"It's okay. I have never been in a serious relationship too. So this will be totally new to me too. But I will try my best to be the best boyfriend" He chimed in positively. Chae blushed when she looked at him. "What do you say? Wanna give this a try?" He asked with hopeful eyes.

"Sure" chae replied.

"I mean what could go wrong?" She thought to herself.

But boy was she wrong. Sooo wrong.

After a few weeks:-

Chaeyoung and Marcus were officially dating now. Things were pretty much great. Sometimes Marcus would sneak over to Chaeyoung's house. They wouldn't do anything serious, only makeout. Chaeyoung kind of felt nice to do this. But she missed her best friend.

Since she had started dating, Y/N kind of drifted away. She thought that it would be better to give Chaeyoung some space. Afterall she was dating Marcus.

So she started to ignore her. She would try to avoid her at school and at her house. Whenever chae used to come at Y/N's house, Y/N would stay in her room and wouldn't come to even say hi. She would even skip lunch at school so that she wouldn't see chae. Of course she felt bad. But this was the only way!! "Marcus would keep chae much more happier than I ever could" Y/N thought and convinced herself whenever she missed chae.

This really started to affect Chaeyoung. Y/N was her best friend no doubt. Y/N was the one with whom she spent most of her time before dating Marcus. And now she wouldn't see her for days.

Even when she tried to talk to Y/N, Y/N would say that she has some work or getting late and would walk away. Chae missed the days spent with Luca and
Y/N.

It was like instead of her life getting better, it was going the exact opposite. Marcus was an amazing boyfriend. He would walk with her to school and on the way back. They even took Luca on walks together somedays. He would take care of chae. But he wasn't Y/N. She felt like he didn't understand her like her best friend.

Chae knew very well that something was missing. She had great grades, a perfect boyfriend, she was going to audition soon, her dream was going to come true.She was supposed to be happy but she wasn't. Why??

A random day:-

"So when are you going to introduce him to us, Roseanne?" Mr Park questioned his daughter as he entered the kitchen to drink some water.

She had told her father about Marcus. She thought it would be much worse if he figured who sneaks in their house almost every night. "Soon dad" she answered while cleaning the dishes. Suddenly, an idea struck her!!!

"Hey dad! What if I invite Marcus and his family to dinner this weekend?" she questioned happily and looked up at him warmly. " I mean if it's ok with your mom why not? It would be great to know his family" her father replied as he kept the glass on the counter.

Chae washed her hands and wiped them with a towel kept nearby. She decided upstairs and look for her mom.

She opened the door of her room and checked if her mom was there. She was folding her clothes and keeping them in her drawer. "Here! I'll keep them mom!" Chae offered help as she walked in and closed the door behind.

"So I wanted to ask you something. I thought that since you guys know about Marcus, wouldn't it be great to invite his family on dinner this weekend? Even Alice unnie is coming here for a few days" she finished while closing the drawer.

"I don't see a reason not to?" Was the reply. "Thanks mom" chae thanked and hugged her mom tightly. She felt a wave of calmness overpower her. She was tired of this. She was tired of Y/N's behaviour. She felt really weak in that moment.

"You know that you can tell me anything, Roseanne?" Her mom politely said as if sensing that something was off. This was enough to convince chae to share her load with her mom.

"I know mom. It's just since Marcus and I have started dating, Y/N has been avoiding me. She won't even appear before me. I don't know why? Did I do something wrong?" chae explained while tears rolled down her soft cheeks.

"Aww ! Don't cry! "her mom wiped her tears. "It's probably nothing." She assured her. "No mom. I know Y/N! She wouldn't ignore me if it wasn't my fault.
I just want to talk to her but she avoids me every chance she gets!" She continued while sobbing.

It was true. She knew Y/N through and through. The kind of person Y/N was. She would never hurt her. Chae knew this. Then why was Y/N acting like this?
Did she know how much it hurts? Chae felt soo miserable that she couldn't explain even if she wanted to. It was like there was a hole in her heart that no on except Y/N could fill. Her best friend.

"Don't worry. She will have to come this weekend when we invite them over. Then you can sort out this matter. And honestly, if she is your best friend, she will forgive you if you made a
mistake." Mrs. Park said as she kissed chae on her head. "Now go and take a bath!" She ordered her daughter with a caring voice.

"Yes. I will sort it out" she thought to herself and went to the bathroom with a hopeful heart.
