Several days later

To say Louis was exhausted after suffering through his heat alone for days didn't even describe what he was truly feeling, not to mention that he was severely dehydrated after drinking only a few bottles of water. He had a spare bottle in his rucksack, and after the last wave of his heat finished, he desperately reached for it, fishing it out of the depth of the bag, and finished it with a few gulps. His tiny little can of fruits was also long gone, and he had to hurry to find more food and water if he wanted to survive for a bit longer.

He stretched his tired limbs, cleaning his messy body with a few baby wipes, which were the last of his supply. He needed to find a place to clean up properly because if someone alive was out there, they would surely smell his scent, as he was reeking of his own sweat and slick.

Louis carefully put his things back in the bag, except the blanket he spent his heat on because he left that on the floor abandoned, and he quickly got dressed before carefully opening the door of the shed. He listened for a few seconds for any noise before fully kicking the entrance open and stepping out in the sunshine. As the sun hadn't reached the middle of the sky yet, Louis calculated in his head that he still had enough time to restock on supplies and find another safe place to sleep for the night.

Not wasting any time, the blue-eyed omega walked to the edge of the rooftop and peered down to check the situation around the building. Luckily for him, the zombie crowd disappeared from the streets. As Louis didn't want to risk the possibility of some of the beast lurking in the building to catch him if they managed to break in through the carefully constructed barricade, the omega decided to use the fire escape.

Once he climbed down the stairs, Louis had a hard time getting the last few steps down of the rusty structure because he weighted barely enough to pull it down. But he didn't want to jump and possibly sprain his ankles because, in that case, that was the end of him. He wriggled on the ladder until it hit the ground with a quiet thud, then climbed down the last few steps.

As his feet touched the asphalt, he looked around before sprinting toward the opposite block of buildings on the street. Out of precaution, he held his gun in one hand, ready to shoot whatever tried to approach him if needed. He jogged down the street, looking for possible hideouts. There were no movements in the city, and it was possible he was the only living thing in the near, but he didn't dare to let his guard down.

Louis was not familiar with the layout of this city, so he randomly chose which corners to turn and where to head. As he passed some shop windows, he saw that most of them were already raided, all shelves standing empty, broken windows and knocked up stands showing the sign of forced entry. As the omega did not expect to find his supplies from shops, he hadn't pondered about them for long. Once his sight was set on a promising looking establishment, he quickened his pace.

The caramel-haired man basically ran the last few steps to reach the rundown looking hotel at the city's border. It was obvious the residents left hastily when the illness first started to show. And that was a lucky thing because the staff didn't block the entrances and windows of the hotel. The main door was chained down, but it was easy for Louis to get around the building and use the back door, which was left unlocked in the hasty escape.

Louis made sure to lock the bolt on the door after turning on his flashlight as he entered the premises. When he reached the lobby of the hotel, he called out.

" Is there anyone here?"

He readied his gun in case someone made a noise. But after minutes of waiting, nothing happened. No dead or living were in the hotel as far as Louis knew. To stay on the safe side, he didn't turn the safety back on his gun, so he could still shoot a load of bullets if something suddenly appeared before him.
