I honestly felt like I was going to throw up as we walked into the restaurant and Zayn could tell it. His hand gripped mine as he walked past the host and down a hallway. At the end of the hallway was a fancy door with curtains blocking the view of what was going on in there.
"I love you," Zayn said as we walked closer to where I wanted to go least of all.
"I love you too," I smiled and looked over at him. He opened the door and walked in first pulling me behind him. When I got to the room, 50 pairs of eyes were locked on me. I felt my cheeks burn up as everyone continued looking at me. I really didn't like the attention.
"Everyone, this is my girlfriend, Ava," Zayn introduced me as we stood in front of everyone. I smiled at them all politely and looked around the room at them all. They all looked so similar with dark hair, caramel skin, and deep brown eyes.
A woman got up and walked over to us. She embraced Zayn and kissed his cheek before turning to me. "I'm Zayn's mum, Trish. It's so nice to finally meet you, Ava." She pulled me into a hug and I hugged her back. "You are so beautiful." She commented once we pulled away.
"Thank you," I blushed and I saw Zayn smiling at me as I talked with his mother. He seemed to be glowing. His eyes were filled with light and I knew he was happy to have me finally meeting his family.
"Let me go introduce you to everyone," She took my hand and started leading me to the tables of people.
"I'll save you a seat, darling," Zayn said to me as I walked off and I smiled at him. My nerves were calmer now that I knew two people in the room but I still wished that Zayn would stay with me. Then again, there was only so much room for people to walk by so it was probably for the best that Zayn didn't come with us.
After being introduced to all fifty or so people, Trish led me to the seat next to Zayn. He stood up and pulled my chair out for me, which I blushed a little at the table. At the table was Trish, Zayn, and his siblings; it was weird to see how similar they all looked. By now, I was a lot calmer and having Zayn right next to me even eased my nerves more.
"Let's go get dinner, sweetheart," Zayn took my hand and we walked over to where the buffet was. "I'm sorry, that must have been a little overwhelming for you."
"Just a little bit," I smiled and grabbed a plate from the stack. Most of the food was foreign so Zayn told me what each was and what foods it would taste similar too. We ended up grabbing a bunch of food and my plate was full. I took some stuff that Zayn said was good, yet couldn't compare it to any food that I would know. I wanted to put myself on a limb for him and prove to him that I wanted to learn about his culture.
"So now you have met everyone," He smiled at me as we neared the end of the buffet, "do you feel calmer?"
"I do," I sighed. "Everyone is so nice."
"I'm glad that you think that," He smiled at me and handed me a fork and knife. We made our way back over to the table and Zayn pulled out my chair for me. I could see his mother looking at us in appreciation when we sat down. As we ate, Zayn talked with his mom about work and about other things. His sisters all were smiling at me and would talk to me occasionally.
"Have you ever been to the city before?" Trish asked me before I took a sip of my water.
"A few times when I was younger but not recently," I smiled at her.
"Zayn," She turned her focus to Zayn. "You should show her around here while you're here."
"I was planning on doing that," He smiled at his mother and placed his hand on my knee, "but it's a surprise what we are actually going to do..."
