Shenelle POV
Life in Kumbungu is so much stress! You should see how bad I've lost weight!
I do my outrageous morning chores everyday, it's so overwhelming and the waking up early part kills me.Today is no different, Teeya and I are again on our way to fetch water at the stream. The stream is usually buzzing with girls of my age. The stream is quite far from our house so we set of early.
As we were drawing nearer the stream, We meet Mr. Farmer boy standing with a group of friends. I tried to look away but he and came closer to Teeya and I.
"Hi city girl ,Tunteeya ka wula( Teeya how are you), he greets. Teeya responds and I look away.
He looks towards my direction and I am forced to just say something, not like I have a choice. I didn't want to seem pompous.
"Errm I just wanted to say a big thank you to you for saving my life and bringing me back home.I shouldn't have been rude to you, I'm sorry", I say in the most shyest of tones with my head facing the ground.
"Haha", he laughs.
Did he know how I battled with my inner self before I could apologize. He is just not helping matters. Gosh he looks so cute when he laughs....
"And do you think I'll let that slide by like that, No you've got that wrong, for your apology to be fully accepted you have to....hmmm let me see...Yes...you have to take a walk with me .Then I may consider your apology.", He replies.
"What?....like a date or something?", I asked this time raising my head and looking at him
"Naa I won't consider it as one...I would say the young city girl trying to make amends, he says with a priceless smirk.
"I'll be at your house at four, by then the sun will be a little bearable, will that be okay?, He asks looking in my direction.
Mhmm, I nod in agreement.
"Achama (Get away), Timto Just quit calling her City girl, her name is Shenelle haba," Teeya Suddenly speaks out after quietly observing the scene.
"Relax little soldier, the owner of the name herself hasn't said anything so," he replies
"Whatever, look we are running late the sun will come out soon so we have to head to the stream", Teeya retorts Back.
I choose to remain quiet, with my gaze still fixed on the dusty ground. "Timto" is that his name? I try to process after hearing Teeya say something like that.
"You Kumbungu girls should quit acting like you have the whole world on your shoulders, so what if the sun comes out, huh," he says.
Teeya rolls her eyes at him and picks up her basin leaving us both alone. I do same...
"You Lansah girls have a quick temper, did I say anything wrong?,he screams loudly into the atmosphere, we shrug and leave him behind.
"He is so annoying erh", Teeya says balancing her basin of water on her head.
I shrug. "I don't see him as annoying to be honest, he is a cool guy, I reply doing same with my basin of water."
"Okay oo, if you say so Mrs. City girl trying to make amends," She whines and we both laugh.
Aside the house chores ripping me into pieces, it has drawn Teeya and I closer. And that's a plus. Teeya is an extremely nice person, it's just that she is a hardcore girl and takes no nonsense. You don't want to get on her nerves.
Throughout the day, I've been secretly looking forward to my meeting with him. I dont know but my heart warms when I think of it.
Teeya is such a darling, She agreed to cover up for me and I'm so happy.
