Like Emma said above- being a demigod is not all it's cracked up to be. Believe me. You'll think, 'Oh wow, it seems so amazing!!!' Trust me, having to worry for your life 24/7 is not amazing. Other than the fact that we have strange abilities, weird disorders, and aren't fully mortal, we are still human. We live, we love, we fight, we die.
I first knew I was strange from my first memories. My eyes, for starters, were this silvery-blue that no one else had, or had seen. Even the people with blue-grey eyes didn't match. Then there was the fact of my choker. I first got it when I was five years old. My mother handed it to me with no charms. It was just a loop of fabric with a chain. Then she told me the words I would never forget; "Don't worry. It'll grow, and so will you. I just pray you'll never need it." The next year, she got married. To Jackson. The love of her life. Me? Not so much.
For my sixth birthday, she gave me a small charm- a dolphin leaping over a wave. She smiled as she put it on my choker, but I could see the worry in her eyes. "Never lose this, okay?" she said softly. I nodded and fingered it, wanting to show all the kids at the school. For my seventh birthday, she handed me a box. Inside were four charms- a sword, a silver-blue trident that matched my eyes, a bow and arrow, and a red cross. The strange thing was that all the sharp points on the weapon charms were bronze. I didn't think much of it, but I did notice she looked more worried.
The summer after my ninth birthday, my mom took me for a drive to a place where she said I would be happy. She was nervous, and so was I. She took me to a strawberry farm. I saw lots of kids there, and some weird looking ones as well- such as the blond girl and dark-haired boy who seemed... strange. Especially around each other. The stranger thing? They felt like siblings. I didn't know why, especially since I'd been a single child my whole life... right? Then my mother left. Just got into the car and drove off silently. I watched in shock as she left me. I noticed a big house with two grownups on the porch, picked up my backpack, and headed over. Three days later, I got claimed, and moved to cabin 3- Poseidon.
Over the next few days, I began to have the same nightmare. I was 5 years old, and playing with myself- or at least that was what it looked like. The only difference was the hair. I had always loved to dye my hair teal, so that's what it was- medium brown faded into a pastel teal. The other girl's, however, faded into a light pink. Like a cat's nose. Anyway, the dream went that we were playing together in a field by my old house. A man walked up to us, and looked over us strangely. Me and the other girl were getting nervous when he grabbed the other girl's hand and started pulling her away. I watch myself run after them, but then he disappears. I always wake up in a cold sweat right when my dream self starts crying.
Nowadays I've figured out what it meant- since demigod dreams are anything but- but I still have it sometimes. But now it's time for you to meet the rest of us.
