Before I tell you what happened next I need to explain something. I am a siren. But not like the ones on siren island in the sea of monsters. I can transform into a mermaid (you know- half human half fish?), and my singing can control anyone who listens. I do have limits however. When I am in human form my siren song is weaker, and takes a larger toll on me. But there are a few benefits. Monsters go to Tartarus, and get reborn into the mortal world. This is the same with sirens. Because of this, I can access the memories and forms of my past lives, so I know a lot of stuff. I've been called many things in my past lives; Anahita, Julia, Anne Boleyn (yes- that Anne boleyn), and countless others. In most of my lives I didn't make it to an old age- but the lives of me and the other mutants are more intertwined than I originally thought. More on that later- back to the story.

I remember waking up the day everything changed. I knew immediately something was wrong. Something was wrong with the way the camp felt. I got dressed immediately, making sure all my charms were on my choker. I headed outside to see a camper arriving at the big house- one who went to the outside world during the school year. I stumbled back as I recognized her. She had been in my dreams the previous night. I was handing her something- something small, then I said something I couldn't make out. According to my other cabinmates, I was singing in my sleep again. This time, my song made them pile their weapons in a corner, then pass out on their beds.

I ran away from the big house, fast, trying to decipher my dream. Since demigods don't dream about real stuff, they usually have visions, or dream about the future. I thought about it for a few minutes, then realized I had handed the girl earplugs. I headed back to my cabin and packed my backpack. I didn't take much- just a change of clothes, my wallet, golden drachmas, and earplugs. I brought enough for 10 people- just in case.

Later that day Chiron approached me, and I faced him nervously. "Ana- you know about the mutant bond from your past lives, correct?" I stared up at him. I'd never told him I was a siren before... but he'd met my past lives. Maybe he recognized me from them. I nodded. "Yeah. It's still pretty complicated though. Why?" His hooves dug into the dirt nervously. Oh yeah, by the way, Chiron is a centaur. He sighed and wrung his fingers. "Our new oracle has given a prophecy." My eyes widened. "Already? What did it say?" He twisted his fingers some more. "It is unclear, as prophecies usually are. Although... it did speak of 'daughters of the sea.'" I stiffened at the plural. "Okay..." I said carefully. "Who's the other one?" He looked at me, and I held his gaze. "That, I believe, will be found on the quest. You and the others are leaving tomorrow," he said, turning to leave. I nodded, then glanced around. "Um... Chiron?" I asked softly. He stopped and turned his head. "Yes?" "Did... anyone go missing last night?" I asked. He turned to face me and looked at me curiously. "Yes," he finally said. "But don't tell anyone other than the people in the quest. I don't want panic to spread." I nodded and headed to my cabin to finish packing. All I added was a large bottle of nectar, and a ziploc bag of ambrosia. I had a feeling we'd need them.

The next morning we gathered in the big house. The oracle (Aurora) was going to drive us two states up, to maine, like the prophecy said. She also repeated the full prophecy to us, and my mind started spinning, trying to figure out what it meant. I stared at the girl from the day before, who I had learned was named Emma, but she noticed me staring and I quickly looked away. There was another girl there too- the one called Shadow.
