//Ashton's POV//

After our performance, I head backstage feeling sweaty and energized. I expect to see a smiling Sam waiting for me, but instead she seems more sad than ever. When I ask her what in the world is wrong, she just glares at Luke, who comes dashing behind me. My annoyance at Luke increases and I wipe away Sam's tears with my thumb.

"Don't." I plead, "Don't do that. Don't throw this night away and let him get to you."

She shakes her head side to side and rushes into my arms. I sigh and lead the two of us back to our seats ignoring the fact that Luke is acting like nothing happened. I unwillingly take Sam's original seat and have her sit in mine so she can talk to Hayley. She cheers up a little bit, but throughout the rest of the show: she remains miserable.

After the show, Hayley grabs my shoulder from the back and stops me for a little chat while others rush to leave the stadium.

"That Sam is a freaking sweetheart!" She exclaims, making me smile. "Listen, Ashton, since Luke is being well..himself..please, take good care of her. I don't want a great girl like that to be wasted because of an idiot like Luke."

I purse my lips and look to the ground. Finally, someone who gets me. Hayley hugs me and reminds me to call her if I ever need to.

By the time I catch up to the others, Sam's waiting for me while the others are already inside the limo. She smiles warmly and I know it isn't forced because of the way her dimples appear shyly.

"The others want to head to Johnny Rockets for burgers and milkshakes." She tells me, not yet budging from her spot.

"Sounds like a plan. After you m'lady." I smile, gesturing to the car door. When I enter the limo with Sam by my side I grin a huge ass smirk and pay no attention to the others. The two of us sit in the way back and I offer to play some music inside the limo. Not a minute later, The Killers begin playing and I hear Sam sing to the song softly against my neck. She rests her head on my shoulder and finds herself holding my hand.

"When you were young.." She sings. Her voice is light and mellow; complete music to my ears.

The city lights brighten the bright electric blue orbs that take the place of her eyes and they crinkle into a smile when they meet mine. The tension is settling and I kiss her cheek to make a statement.

"You missed." She whispers, looking out the window.

"Hm?" I mumble, against her ear.

"My lips. You missed them and kissed my cheek instead."
