Ch.12

Riley was lying in bed. She got a text from Simon;

We may have a problem. Text me - Simon xx

Riley frowned. She didn't know what had happened. But she knew it must have been serious for Simon to have text her at 6am.

Riley walked downstairs and sighed. Meredith was there. "Morning," she said as she handed her a bacon sandwich.

Riley smiled and took it. She sat down. "Mum. Is everything okay? I mean you've been around for a few weeks now."

"Everything is fine darling. I just thought I'd spend some time with you. Making everything okay," Meredith said as she hugged her daughter.

Riley nodded and sighed.

Riley arrived at school. She walked over to Aimee. "Can I talk to you?" She asked.

"What's up?"

Riley sighed. "I think there's something going on with mum. She has been back too long. And she said it's cause she wants to spend time with us," she said.

Aimee nodded. She took her hand. "Mum is mum babes. Just make the most of her being around. I know you're not used to it. But I think she'll stick around now."

"Are you sure?"

"Of course. And you know you're always welcome at my place. Max is never around. He's always holed up in his study. Which I personally think is awesome."

Riley grinned and nodded. "Thank you."

Riley walked into Simon's classroom. He was pacing and looked at her. "We have a problem."

"What?"

"Someone knows about us. And they're threatening to tell."

Riley paled. She felt the panic kicking in. She looked at him. "Who?"

Simon shrugged. "I don't know. But someone knows."

Riley shook her head. She couldn't believe what was happening. She looked at him. "No one can prove anything can they? There's no proof at all," she said.

"I wouldn't put it past anyone. Especially in this place," Simon said as he made sure no one was watching them.

Riley looked down at the floor. She couldn't believe it. She sighed. "I guess you want to end us now," she said.

Simon shook his head. "No. But we have to be careful. Especially now if someone knows."

Riley made her way to the assembly that had been called. She sighed as she sat down with Dynasty. The two of them were close friends.

Riley frowned as Aimee looked over at her. She looked hurt. Riley suddenly began to feel anxious. She could feel the anxiety rising. "I-I have to go."

Before anything, Max and Christine walked in. Riley knew she couldn't leave now. Christine got up on the stage. "I've called this assembly as I want to say how proud I am that this school is going from strength to strength. That we are making it work."

Riley sighed in relief. But she felt the panic in her when Rhiannon got on the stage and looked directly at Riley. "Riley Lester is having an affair with Mr Lowsley. I saw them kissing the other day."

Riley paled. She saw how everyone was looking at her. But how could she get out of this one?
