Ch.23

Riley knew how Meredith was becoming suspicious of her and Simon. She knew that it wasn't easy at all. She wanted to stay with him. But it was getting harder with Meredith and her suspicions. She wanted to somehow make it all seem worth it.

Riley knew what would happen if Meredith got confirmation on what  she thought. She knew Simon would lose his job. He would lose everything. And Riley would be known as the girl who had an affair with her teacher.

Her life would change. And she didn't want that. She somehow needed to keep her relationship with Simon secret until she had finished school.

All she knew was that things were getting complicated. And she didn't know how to cope with it. She wanted her life to be simple. But it was what she expected when she had an illicit affair with her teacher.

Morning came all too quickly for her. She found herself lying in bed. Not wanting to deal with the day. Before she had chance to attempt to go back to sleep, the door opened and Meredith walked in. "Up. There's an events day at the school today. And I'm going."

Riley frowned. "What? Why?"

"Because some fellow students may want to be a doctor when they're finished school. Who knows."

Riley groaned. She knew she was going to have to stay away from Simon for the day which wouldn't be easy. She would have to somehow talk to him when her mum wasn't around.

She grabbed her phone and sent a text;

-my mum is coming for the careers thing. Have 2 b careful/Riley x

She sent the text and sighed. She knew that it was going to be hard. But she would do it somehow.

Riley went into school with her mum. She saw Aimee who was standing with Simon and Max. Meredith raised her eyebrows. "Oh. It's Simon. I think I should talk to him," she said.

"Why?"

"To ask about this event. What did you think I meant?" Meredith asked as she looked to her.

Riley shook her head. "Nothing. Don't worry," she said as she walked off and sighed.

She knew the whole situation was getting complicated. And she didn't know what else to do other than the fact she couldn't let on that she was in fact sleeping with her teacher.

Riley looked up as Aimee walked into the common room. She smiled. "Hey. I saw mum here. Why?" She asked.

"The careers event. She says some people want to be doctors."

Aimee frowned. She shook her head. "No. That's not until next week. There's no events on today," she told her as she looked to her.

Riley realised what had happened. Meredith was there to snoop and get some answers as to weather or not her daughter was in fact having an affair.

Riley ran into Simon's classroom. She looked to him. "My mum. I think she knows about us. Which is why she's here. We have to be extra careful," she said as she looked to her.

"Careful about what?"

Riley turned to see her mum standing there. But would Meredith get the truth from her daughter?
