Jimmy Jr paced around in his living quickly, fiddling with his hands anxiously.

The boy had been trying to reassure himself that everything was going to turn out fine, that the world wasn't going to instantly end, but it wasn't working out that well. He had finally decided to, impulsively, text Tina after about week from originally getting her number. The boy was now trying to figure out how to open a conversation with her, they were strangers after all. What if I'm too forward and scare her off, what if I'm not forward enough and I seem uninterested?! thoughts like that kept floating around his nervous wreck of a brain. He really wanted this to go well.

He wasn't even sure he wanted to be romantically involved with this girl, he didn't even know if this would turn into a friendship. They could turn out to be acquaintances. It wouldn't hurt to text her even just a hi though, right?

He exhaled carefully, wiping the sweat that had begun to accumulate on his palms off on his dark washed jeans. Now or never he told himself, plopping down on the plush cushions of his rusty red sofa.

He picked up his phone, which had been discarded on the coffee table since he got home from work an hour ago. He had chosen today to text her early that morning and hadn't payed much attention to anything happening during his shift because of thinking about it. Jimmy stared at his phone for a few minutes before actually turning it on and clicking on her contact, his hands shakily tapped away at the keys as he crafted a at least decent text message.

Me: hey,, i- this is probably weird for me to be messaging you since we dont know literally anythng about one another but like- i kinda want to try to get to know you since i have your contact? thats probably really awkward.. sorry,,
Sent. 2:03pm

Me: feel free to leave me on read if your uncomfortable.. thas the last thin i want
Sent. 2:04pm

He hit send and placed the phone back on the table, leaning back against the sofa with an exasperated sigh.

She's not going to respond he told himself glumly after a few seconds of silence, this was a terrible idea. When he finally heard a ding, thinking it was just Zeke or Mat goofing off in the group chat, he ignored it. Same with the second ding.

Then it did it a third time, ding!

He quickly reached to grabbed his phone and turned it back on.

Tina: No you're completely fine Jimmy Jr, you're not making me uncomfortable, I would like to also get to know you better. :)

Tina: I was just reading anyway.

Tina: So, how's your day going wrong number? ;)
Sent. 2:09pm

He felt himself beginning to blush at the last message, biting his bottom lip slightly. Why was he getting so worked up about this? It's just a semicolon and a bracket, two clicks. He's getting flustered over two clicks!

He attempted to recompose himself, being able to calm his quickening heart rate.

Me: my day's going fine I guess,, I had work kinda early so that's not much fun :( and this dude at my work was being annoying again but I got to go home relatively early so I guess that's a plus

Me: How bout you?

Tina: Sorry to hear that! How was this guy annoying you, if you don't mind me asking, does he do that often? And day went rather well I would say. I reread one of my favourite books! :D

Me: He kept calling me "pipsqueak" and "baby fry" because I'm one of the younger people working there and because I'm like- shorter and smaller than him :(

Me: He does it every time I have a shift with him,,, I'm glad your day went well though! What's your favourite book?

Tina: It's called: "The Widow Of Rose House" by Diana Biller, it's really good if you like horror and romance novels! :)

Jimmy Jr's grin faltered a bit, he couldn't remember the last time he read a book, much less finish one. It might've been a "your Adventure" book he read in second grade, mostly because the sentences weren't very long and he got to pick which page he wanted to go to.

Me: Sounds like an interesting book! :)

The two talked for hours, part of the day just flying by, the conversation flowing out natural.

He nearly forgot to tell the news that Jimmy Jr Pesto, had successfully talked to a girl! Only remembering hours later after him and girl had ended their conversation (Tina had to go to a dinner with a friend so they ended).

He hopped into the group chat, practically buzzing in happiness as he typed away at his phone keyboard.
