Chapter 6 - The Library

"Speaking of it, what were you three doing at the Kori Valley? You know, it's dangerous right?" Brooklyn began asking, feeling rather doubtful at them. At the same time, Ace and Zenil stopped chasing each other and noticed Brooklyn's question. "Well, we were chased by the Likowns. Zenil told us to run to the highest point of the valley, luring them too. Just as one of them was about to attack Ace and I, Zenil ran swiftly and leaped himself to the Likown," Kai recalled, Brooklyn nodded as she listened, "Woah! How brave Zenil must have been. Thankfully, I saved him before he fell into the rushing river, also caught his hat," relieved Brooklyn with a sigh. Ace kept on teasing Zenil by nudging him to where Brooklyn looked rather impressed by Zenil's bravery. Zenil rolled his eyes with annoyance to Ace.

"Say, Brook. I was about to ask you the same thing," interrupted Zenil, refusing to see Ace's smirk face. "What were you doing that time? How did you know that we were there?" Zenil questioned. "I, myself, as the queen of the Riverine Kingdom, usually do night patrols before any of my people wake up. Doing night patrol is indeed tiring. Thankfully, Leonard is there with me. He does have a high energy every night, while Phina has a high energy during the daytime. What makes them different is that Phina has stamina or energy stores for her activities in the night time, while Leonard doesn't have one," Brooklyn explained, Kai and the others listened carefully. "While I was on a night patrol with Leonard, I heard a loud screech and shrieks, coming from the valley," she continued, suddenly Kai interrupts by chuckling at Ace. "That must be Ace's shriek! He shrieked so loud though," chuckled Kai. Ace huffed, "Oh come on! Thanks to my shriek, Brooklyn saved us. Be grateful," he said dramatically.

"Your friends are rather hilarious, Zenil," chuckled Brooklyn who sat next to him. Zenil just gave her a warm smile and sighed, "They are pretty active," he replied. "Anyway, Leonard and I heard those sounds and beyond curiosity, we decided to have a look at it. As Leonard and I were close to the valley, I saw something familiar. At first, I couldn't believe that it was you at first, Zen. The closer we get, the more I realize it was you. Seeing Zenil fall off the waterfall with the Likown terrifies me, directly commanding Leonard to catch him before falling into the river. Just as Leonard succeeded to catch Zenil, I can't believe my eyes. It is Zenil indeed!" continued Brooklyn, clearing her throat. "After that, I saw Ace and Kai from above. I thought that it must be Zenil's friends. And so, I decided to rescue you three away from the Likowns."

The three left speechless for quite a while, soon, Zenil broke the silence. "That's amazing, Brooklyn! Thank goodness, you recognize me and Ace's shriek too. Or else, we all could be doomed soon!" Zenil responded happily. "Yeah, I am just doing my duty," she chuckled, receiving a blush from Zenil's admiration. Kai and Ace smirked at Zenil which made Zenil froze for a while. "Oh yeah, is it also a coincidence?" Kai added as Zenil covered his face with his palm. Oh boy! Here we go again.

"You know, Brook. Zenil is a leader in his camp. He takes day and night patrols while his people are asleep. It is a coincidence that you two are leaders and take daily patrols just before anyone recognizes you," teased Kai as Ace nudged shy Zenil a lot. "Wait really?" Brooklyn replied surprisingly. "Zenil, I didn't know you also took day and night patrols while our people were asleep," she said with a surprise. Zenil kept silent and covered his face more. "Oh look at him! His ears are red!" Informed Ace with laughter. "Ace, will you stop?" growled Zenil with embarrassment, he did really hate to admit it but he rather felt connected with Brooklyn since it was a coincidence for them to be leaders, taking day and night patrols.

Ace and Kai just chuckled, they really love to tease shy Zenil so much. Brooklyn gave them a giggle as she walked to the entrance of the kingdom. She sealed Leonard and Phina back to her small blue crystal. That is where she called them if she needed any help, of course by calling their names in front of the crystal. "Come now, you guys need shelter. I will show you where you guys should stay. Giving you all new weapons especially Zenil, who just lost his bow and arrow," Brooklyn insisted as she walked into the kingdom.
