Left or Right?

Left or Right?

Envy's mind squabbled in confusion as she stood above the stairs. "Left or Right?!" She mumbled to herself, biting her inner cheek as she fails to remember. Envy jogs down the stairs and makes a swift left turn. If this is the wrong way, then I'll just turn back, Right? Easy as that! She keeps walking down the hallway, but as she ambles down her path, she notices the lights on the wall start to get dimmer, and there's an increasing aroma in the air that's making her sick to her stomach.

Ugh, what is that? Envy contemplates pinching her nose before she sees a dark, dark set of stairs leading underground, right before big thick bars with a lock and no key. Envy turns around and power walks the other way. What was that? What was that?? The smell? The darkening hallway? The sturdy set of bars? Envy sweats at the thought of it being the castle's dungeon, but doubts it considering,, Who would put a dungeon beside a library? Envy grumbles, turning to her right, assumingly going to the library. Passing by a few small doors, Envy sees an enormous set of open doors, with a golden plac above it, labeling "Library." The doors were wide open, showcasing the large shelves stacked and sorted with books of all colors and sizes. Envy looked about the room, seeing the small sets of wooden tables, chairs, and such furniture.

At one particular table, had a woman sat in a chair, head lowered into her book. A Knight stood beside her, seeing Envy, and then walking to and past the apprentice Knight, giving her a nod. Envy assumed that was a signal of some sort, maybe to start guarding? Nonetheless, she stumbled about where the Last Knight was, standing stiffly. The girl hadn't moved from her previous position, if you didn't count her using her dexterous fingers to turn a thin page from the book she was reading. Envy takes the silent opportunity to take a good look at who she was guarding.

Her head hung low into her book as her fingers fiddled with the edges of the thin browned papers. Her lush, swarthy skin rivaled the finest of carved wood, not a bump or blemish in sight. Her dress hung loosely from her shoulders, the white cloth being held snugly by the green corset, the switch of it covered by something resembling gold. Below the corset, a viridescent, Mint, and a milky set of colors held itself to a dress, reaching as long as her ankles. Envy looks back up to the top of her head, only to be confused. Isn't she a Princess? Where's her crown? Envy looked around the table to see a small golden coronet, sat next to her book.

"Who are you?"

Envy practically jumps out of her skin as the Princess looked up at her, a questionable look in her cognac eyes. Envy looked around idly. Ash said it was okay to be informal with the Princesses right? Or did he just mean Princess Taylanie and Tanna? Or Princesses in general? Wh-

"Hello?" She looked more concerned than questionable now, scooted back from her chair as her slender hands lay on her lap."I'm- uh." Envy stumbled, She should just tell her what happened, right?? "I'm Knight Envy- I'm Knight Ash's apprentice! He had to go do something with the King and asked me to take his place for the time being.." She explained, fiddling with the tip of her thumb. The Princess nodded slowly, squinting a bit and looking Envy up and down. "His apprentice? Isn't it a bit early for those?" She said, looking at Envy's chest plate. "He said something about not wanting to examine a lot of knights?" Envy pondered, trying to think back. The bookworm chuckled half-heartedly. "Sounds like him." She aired, turning back to her book.

Envy really didn't have time to wonder what that meant, thinking about how she was supposed to act around royalty. Envy's face bent into something of deep thought. She couldn't even remember her name! Eldest Princess of Keljamt, soon to heir the throne, and Envy couldn't even think hard enough to remember her name? Think back, Think back, Think back...
