Chapter 3

POV: Addison

Rydel smiled widely and engulfed me into a huge, tight hug. I hugged her back, of course.

Let me explain, Rydel and her family used to live next door to my family when we all lived in Colorado. Jaelynne and I were really close with them.

Both of us finally let go from the hug and Rydel was the first to speak, "Oh my god! What are you doing here?!" She asked, excitedly.

I giggled a bit, "We moved here because Jaelynne wants to be a singer and yeah. Plus, it's Cali. So, why not?"

Rydel kept smiling, "Oh yeah! I knew Jaelynne was a good singer. She was even when we were young. Sometimes I catch Riker watching her YouTube videos." She explained as she laughed.

I laughed with her, "He watches her YouTube videos? Wow."

Rydel nodded, "Wait a minute, so you live here now?" I nodded as Rydel's smile grew. "We live next door!" She squealed.

I kept smiling, "Really? That's insane! Just like in-" I got cut off by Rydel.

"In Colorado!" She exclaimed as Jaelynne came walking towards us.

"What's with all the- RYDEL?" She questioned.

"Jaelynne!" They both squealed before engulfing eachother in a hug like Rydel and I did a few minutes ago.

As Rydel and Jaelynne pulled away from eachother and started talking, I began to think.

I wonder how Ross is.

Ross is one of Rydel's brother and he was my best friend back in Colorado. He's my age. We even share the same birthday.

I also wonder how Rocky, Riker, and Ryland are.

I remember that I used to call Rocky my sloth. Heh.

After a few minutes, Mom and Dad came by and also said their hellos to Rydel.

I just kept wondering about the rest of the Lynches, mainly Ross, until-

"Hey, do you guys wanna come over for dinner? I'm sure my family would love to see you all." Rydel asked.

"Well, we wouldn't want to intrude..." Mom explained.

"Oh, no! It's fine! My Mom and Dad would love to see you guys."

Mom and Dad smiled at eachother before looking at Rydel again, "Well, I guess we can arrange that. What time?" My dad question.

Rydel began to think, "Um... I don't know. Probably around 6:00? I'll come over to walk with you guys. Riker might come with me." She explained.

"Alright! Sounds like a plan." Mom said.

"Yay! I better get going, but I'll be here around 6:00. It was great seeing all of you."

"It was good seeing you too, Dels." I said.

She smiled before we bid our goodbyes and Jaelynne closed the door. Mom and Dad smiled before going to continue with what they were doing.

As I started to walk to my room, I felt my arm being tugged into Jaelynne's new room.

"Help me." She simply stated.

"With?" I questioned.

"We're going to the Lynches. This is going to be the first time I see Riker in years. What if he's hot?"

I laughed, "Okay, whoa. Calm down. These are the Lynches we're talking about here. We were friends with them practically since we were all born. Even if they are hot, just remember that they're still the Lynches."

Jaelynne smiled at me, "Thanks, Addy. That helped a lot."

I smiled back, "No problem, Jae." I said before I walked out of her room and went into mine.

I grabbed a book, The Maze Runner, from my book shelf and collapsed onto my bed as I began to read it.

I was almost finished with the book when I heard the doorbell ring. I closed the book and put it back on the book shelf.

I took one last look at myself in the mirror before deciding I was ready.

I walked downstairs to find Mom, Dad, and Jaelynne already down there. Talking to Rydel, and I'm guessing was Riker?

"There you are." Jaelynne said as I approached them. "Let me guess, you were reading?" I nodded and Jaelynne laughed.

"Still into books, huh?" The guy, who I recognized as Riker as I looked at him more, asked.

I smiled widely, "Riker!" I exclaiming before we engulfed eachother in a hug, "And yes, I'm still into books." I laughed as we pulled apart.

"Well, leggo!" Rydel cheered as we all walked out of the house and followed her to the house on the left of ours.

Wait... On the left? Isn't that where I saw 'hot guy who lives next door'?

Nah, maybe it was on the right.

No, it was the house on the left.

Shit. That means that a one of the Lynch boys are extremely attractive.

Please don't be Ross. That's all I ask. I can't handle my childhood best friend being hot while I turned into a potato.

We soon got to the front porch. Riker opened the door, letting all of us inside.

I looked around the surroundings and saw baby pictures of the Lynch kids hanging up on the walls.

I smiled when my eyes stopped at one with Jaelynne and I in it as well. Jaelynne saw it and smiled, too.

"My parents are in the kitchen. Mom's not completely done yet." Rydel explained to my parents. They laughed a little as they went into the kitchen. Jaelynne and I just kind of looked at eachother then looked at Rydel and Riker.

"So, Jaelynne. Wanna come up to my room, play videos games, and catch up on life?" Riker asked as he chuckled.

Jae giggled and blushed a little, "Sure. Why not?" She said just as they started to walk upstairs.

Rydel smiled at me, "I ship it already."

I started to burst out into a fit of laughter, "Haha... That's great. Ahem. But yeah, I could see it happening."

Rydel smirked at me, "You're wondering about Ross, aren't you?" I sighed and nodded. Rydel laughed, "Follow me." She said as she began to walk upstairs and I followed her.

We stopped on front of one of the doors that was up there. Rydel knocked on it a few times.

"Maybe he's busy?" I questioned.

She shook her head, "Him and Ryland are probably just playing video games." She explained as she knocked again.

The door opened, revealing a guy with hair darker than Rydel's or Riker's. He had that hot, yet adorable face. He looked a lot like-

"Addy?" He questioned as he looked me, interrupting my thoughts.

I recognized him right at that moment, "Ryland?" Then we ended up hugging eachother.

I've gotten a lot of hugs today.

"Hey! How's the bookworm?" He asked as we pulled away.

I laughed, "She's still a bookworm."

"Thought so." He smiled brightly.

Then the door opened wider, revealing 'hot guy who lives next door'. Oh shit...

His eyes widened and he smiled widely, "Addy!" He exclaimed.

I nervously smiled back at him, "Ross!"
