The whining of my alarm woke me from my peaceful sleep. I groaned and shoved my pillow over my head. The dread, of having to wake up in the early hours of the morning to go to school, consuming me. I shut off my alarm and reluctantly got out of bed. My shower had woken me fully and I pulled on a pair of jeans, a nice sweater and some ankle boots. After pulling my hair into a ponytail and applying a thin coat of mascara to my lashes, I begrudging trudged to the kitchen.

My mother greeted me in the kitchen. "Good morning."

"Morning Mom." I poured some cereal in a bowl before adding milk and gulping it down. I slurped down the remainder of the milk, my Mom chuckling.

I quickly brushed my teeth and smoothed out my sweater before walking into the living room and collecting my bag. A car horn was heard outside and I bid my Mom goodbye before rushing out the door. Albeit, halfway to Logan's car I stopped short. Missy was sitting in the passenger seat. Why am I so surprised?

I hoped in the back seat, muttering a 'hello'. Missy ignored me and I rolled my eyes. Logan gave me a small, sympathetic smile through the rear-view mirror and I returned the smile. I watched the houses on my street pass by as Logan sped down the road to the building I dreaded to enter.

The ride to school was silent, despite the radio playing softly. Logan came to a stop in front of the school and I hopped out. The squeals from freshmen greeting their friends that I'm sure they saw yesterday were heard and the occasional wolf whistle from the players checking out the 'fresh meat'. I rolled my eyes and placed my bag over my shoulders. This was going to be a long year.

Logan slung an arm over my shoulder. "You look like you want to murder everyone." he chuckled.

"I do." I bumped my hip on his and he grinned at me.

"You want to murder me?" he quirked an eyebrow.

I laughed and mocked a thinking expression. "Hmm, maybe." I stuck my tongue out at him.

Logan gasped and placed a hand over his heart in mock hurt. "You hurt me deeply, Haydee, deeply." I laughed and shoved him playfully.

"I was kidding, I don't want to kill you Logan." I rolled my eyes. "There, now stop being a sook."

"Kiss it better." he pouted and tapped his chest, over his heart.

"I'm not kissing your chest." I scoffed.

"That's not what you said a few nights ago." Logan smirked and I gasped and hit his shoulder. "I'm kidding, kiss it better." he said, pouting his lips and tapping them.

I rolled my eyes. "Your lips haven't been hurt."

"Shut up and kiss me." Logan deadpanned. I laughed and pressed my lips to his. Instantly, fireworks erupted and my eyes fluttered closed.

The first bell broke our kiss and I leaned my head on Logan's chest and groaned. "I don't want to go."

Lunch finally swung by and I couldn't be more happy. I shoved my books in my bag and literally ran out of class. Once I got rid of the books I didn't need in my locker, I made my way to the cafeteria.

I spotted Logan straight away but scowled when I saw Missy sitting next to him, along with Megan, Anna, Jake and Josh. My eyes scanned for Luke and I frowned when I didn't see him.

I sighed and walked towards Logan's table, as I reached it I gave him a small smile and slid into the seat across from him, as there was no room next to him. He was sitting on the edge of the table and Missy on the other side. I suppressed myself from reaching over and slapping her.

I have hardly any classes with Logan but the ones I do, Missy was in them as well. I only have a few with Luke, too. Worry washed over me and I messaged Luke. It was a moment or so before I saw him walk through the cafeteria. I waved at him and he made his way towards us. He slid in next to me and seemed a little off.

"You okay?" I said softly.

The rest of the table was having their own little conversations. I again restrained myself from ripping Missy's hair out as she flirted with Logan, who seemed completely oblivious.

Luke shrugged and looked down. I gave him a sympathetic look and placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Is it your dad?" Luke nodded. "He'll come around, Luke." I gave his shoulder a slight squeeze. He tried to give me a small smile in return.

"I sure hope so." he said softly, although when I looked at him, his face held no sign of hope, like he had already given up and that broke my heart.

"No, Luke, look at me," he finally did, and his eyes were red. "He will come around, okay? He will, I know he will." I said sternly and a small smile formed on his face before the pulled me into a hug. My face was squished against his chest and he had his head resting on top of mine.

"Thank you, Haydee, I can always count on you to help me feel somewhat better." he whispered in my hair, I smiled softly into his chest. My eyes suddenly connected with Logan's. He had a frown on his face and when his eyes met mine, he furrowed his eyebrows. I gave him a look as if to say what's wrong, but he just shook his head.

Luke finally let go of me and I sat up. Why was Logan looking at me like that? He couldn't possibly be jealous could he? What could he be jealous of? I sighed and put my elbow on the table, placing my chin in my palm. A hand was waved in front of my face suddenly and I jerked back a bit.

"Lost you there, anyways, you got any food?" Luke pestered and I shook my head sadly, my stomach rumbling making Luke laugh.

Moments later though, the bell rang and I forced myself to stand. Logan and I had calculus now, which of course meant Missy would be joining us. I walked over to Logan a placed a gentle hand on his back.

"You want to go to class?" I asked as he turned. Already most of the cafeteria was cleared. Logan shook his head and I frowned.

"You go, I'll meet you there." He brushed me off and turned back around, back to his conversation with Jake. As soon as those words left his mouth, my heart dropped into my stomach. What's wrong with him? Why's he being so cold all of a sudden? Hurt washed through me as I walked away.

I was settled in my seat, an empty one next to me where Logan would sit. I pulled out all my books that I needed and started doodling in it, waiting for Logan to come. What the hell was that in the cafeteria? He can't just sulk because I hugged Luke. He knows I'm close with Luke and he's never been like that before. I dropped my pencil on my book and massaged my temples.

The door burst open and Logan and Missy strolled through. My heart sank deeper at the sight and it felt unbelievably heavy. I tried to give him a small smile but he just gave me a nod and sat in the seat next to me, Missy sitting behind him.

With a frown on my face I said, "Are you okay?" But before he could answer me, the teacher walked in and everyone halted their conversations. Logan gave me a nod and turned his attention towards the teacher. My frowned deepened and I turned my attention to him as well but nothing he said registered.
