Chapter 10

Josh's P.O.V

It's a Sunday afternoon there's an old man pulling a piano in the street. Everyone made it seemed like it was normal. People would say hi to him as if he wasn't hauling a 200 pound piano. It was really weird, everything in this town is odd. Everything except May. She seemed too familiar to me. Like if I knew her before. I'm outside my house helping my Mom unload the last boxes from our old house into our new one. There have been so many changes this year, it's crazy. New house, town, no college, and Dad's gone. I shook the thought away. Everything is going to be fine. While my mother and I are unloading boxes, she keeps nagging me to get out of the house. "All I'm saying..." my Mom went on. She picked up a box to hand to me.

"I have a feeling that's not all you're going to say," I teased.

"All I'm saying..." she repeated.

"There'll always be another thing, "I cut her off. I picked the box and put it on the sidewalk.

"All I'm saying! You don't have to stay in my account. You can go out and see your friends more often." She said, picking up another box.

"Okay okay," I smiled at her.

"And that's all I'm saying," she chuckled and passed me the box.

"Okay," I gave a short laugh. When I turned around to put the box on the sidewalk I couldn't believe my eyes. May was walking towards me. She looked beautiful with her big blue eyes and short yellow hair. You can see her adorable little ears. I gave her a huge dashing smile. I started to walk towards when...

"I've just taken drugs," she stated. My smile quickly went away. I gave her a confused look. What exactly is she doing? She is unpredictable.

"Excellent," I said. "Um have you meet my mom?" Maybe she would realize she should stop talking. I faced towards my Mom, she was getting the last box from the trunk. My mom walked toward us.

"Hi," she smiled.

"Hi," May replied. "Mushrooms is all I did, which are natural. If not strictly illegal." I looked at my mom. Her smile was completely wiped off her face.

"My friend did want to buy some weed," May kept talking. "but she thought the dealer was kind of skanky. So we went with the shrooms instead." My mother gave an awkward nod to May.

"See you inside," My Mother quickly ran inside. I wanted to laugh but I think that would just get me more into trouble.  I saw her off, I didn't know what to say to May. I put down the box and shook my head.

"That went well," I said standing up again.

"I thought so too," May gave a small smile. Her cheeks were pink.

"How much did you take," I asked worried for her.

"Not much," she said she shook her head. "I don't know, I'm not really well informed in this type of stuff," she gave a confused face.

"Yeah me neither," I stuck my hands in my pocket. "Look, how about I drive you somewhere? Keep you out of trouble." I pointed my head towards my car.

"Well, yeah sure," May said not very confident.

"If you don't want to it's fine, We can..." I said.

"No!" May said quickly. "I want to I'm just not that sure when this starts to kick in." I looked at her she looked worried. Then I notice someone moving behind us. When I focused on it, it was a girl with a bowler hat she was walking on the sidewalk like she walking on the moon. She looked super stoned.
