It was two days before the competition.
Iwaizumi had packed up his skates and was about to leave when he saw Oikawa still on the rink.
"That dumbass, he shouldn't overwork himself. He'll fuck up at the competition if he's not rested enough."
Iwaizumi said under his breath, getting his skates back on.
He skated out to Oikawa and put his hands on his hips.
"Someone isn't following the training schedule of rest up before competition."
Oikawa made a small 'eep!' sound before turning to look at an annoyed Iwaizumi.
"So? I need my step sequence to be perfect. Yours is already amazing. The only time I feel like I'm perfect, is when we skate together."
He said, nearly pouting like a child.
"Okay then, let's practice our pair skating, it'll be easier on your fatigue."
Iwaizumi said, holding Oikawa's hand in one hand, his hip against his other hand.
They started skating and Oikawa realized he might be lighter than usual.
He knew the 'diets' the other female skaters participated in weren't healthy, but it couldn't hurt to try. Right?
He prayed that Iwaizumi didn't notice.
As they parted for their step sequences and quads, his worries disappeared for a moment.
Iwaizumi did a step sequence as Oikawa started with his quads.
Oikawa did a quadruple Lutz, into a single toe loop, into a quadruple salchow. Afterwards he started his step sequence.
Iwaizumi, instead of doing his step sequence, decided to watch Oikawa just this once.
Oikawa was always looked so graceful and carefree when he was skating.
It was one of the things that made Iwaizumi fall in love with him.
Oikawa, who's mind on the other hand, was racing with worries.
Don't mess up.
Don't think about anything.
Land this correctly.
Don't. Mess. Up.
Look graceful. Look peaceful.
Damnit you were supposed to land on the inside of your right foot, not the outside of your left foot.
Don't mess this jump u-He stumbled. For the first time practicing this routine, he nearly fell and looked upset.
Oikawa's body was trembling in excruciating fatigue, but he had to finish the routine.
Iwaizumi noticed the stumble but didn't say anything, not wanting to upset or hurt Oikawa's pride.
Iwaizumi skated over to him and for the finishing move, he picked Oikawa up and did the final tricks.
A double twist lift, a throw jump, graze the ice, a solo spin combination, and a death spiral.
Oikawa felt like he could nearly fly.
Iwaizumi, on the other hand, felt almost sick to his stomach.
Why was Oikawa so light? He could nearly feel his ribcage. Had he been not eating properly?
All the thoughts ended when Oikawa was put down, finishing in his final pose.
He had his back facing Iwaizumi, with his hands wrapped around Iwaizumi's neck.
Iwaizumi now noticed even more how much fatigue and pain Oikawa was in.
Oikawa felt like he could barely breathe, he was so cold and tired, his breaths nearly sounding like wheezes.
"Hey. Have you not been eating okay? Please. You're so beautiful Tooru. Don't think of yourself like those other skaters. You're perfect."
Oikawa smiled softly.
"I just wanted to be beautiful, and skinny. The other girls and guys in the pair skating of my division are so pretty. Makki is even better than me. I need to work harder."
"You need to be you. And that you is beautiful, so don't you dare say anything otherwise, or else."
Oikawa stuck his tongue out and pulled at his eye slightly.
"Or else what, Iwa-Chan~~"
Iwaizumi grabbed his wrists.
"Or else next time I'll drop you on the ice."
"Love you too Iwa."
Iwaizumi chuckled as they skated off the ice.
AN: this is the longer oneshot I've written oh my God. I hope you can tell I used to be a competitive figure skater based on this story. I only did it for like, 2 years or so. Then I quit.
