Tendou was analyzing the setter and spikers on the court. Shiratorizawa was one point away from their winning set point. He can't screw up now.
He saw the setter's wrist flick differently and jumped up, blocking the setter dump no one else could have seen coming.
The ball hit the other team's side before anyone could get to it. They won.
Tendou got excited and started dancing.
"Baki Baki Ni Ore~"
He continued singing and dancing until.. his hands just dropped, his smile and cheery mood faded.
He saw girls talking to Ushijima and basically drooling over him. One of them was even touching his arm.
He got upset and Semi asked if he was okay, noticing the quick change in his mood.
Tendou shook his head and pointed to the girls surrounding Ushijima.
"Oh. Ohhh. Oh my God-"
Semi said, slowly realizing why Tendou was so upset. He quickly but quietly called the rest of the team over. He, Goshiki, and Shirabu instructed everyone their plan.
And so, one by one, the other guys started leading the girls off to the side, sometimes by force.
Tendou smiled at their caring demeanor and walked over to Ushijima.
"Wakatoshi-kun? Wanna get some fresh air? I could use some and I don't wanna go alone."
Tendou said, his smile softer than most times. Ushijima nodded and they walked out.
"Say, Tendou. Why did you stop singing earlier? I was talking to a girl when I heard you stop."
Tendou froze and nearly made Ushijima trip by how fast they'd stopped.
"Satori? What's wrong? Did I say something?"
Tendou teared up but ignored it, wiping his eyes.
"God, it's not you, it never will be. It's me. Of course you wouldn't notice me though, I'm just the monster of the team. The scary, weird, freak 'guess' blocker."
Ushijima was stunned at his words.
"Satori what's the meaning of this? You know for a fact that I'd never see you as those terrible words, neither would anyone else on the team."
Ushijima went to put his hand on his shoulder but Tendou flinched, expecting the worst.
Ushijima took his hand back and was shocked once more.
"Satori.. why? Please tell me why you are so upset."
Tendou just looked at him.
"Because I'm not. I'm not anything like you. I'm just a monster. You're so amazing and cool, I just want you to love m-"
Tendou cut himself off by slapping a hand over his mouth.
Ushijima showed something rare for him. Him being emotional. He hugged Tendou and put one hand on the back of his neck, the other on his back.
"Don't say that. You're not a monster Tendou, you never were. You're just a beautiful person who life decided to be an asshole to."
"But, Wakatoshi, I'm not! Those girls, you could have picked anyone one of them!"
Tendou started basically sobbing against Ushijima's shoulder, his hands clinging to Ushijima's jersey like it was the last thing keeping him alive.
"They all love you at first sight, meanwhile I'm just the weird one who sings and dances and creeps everyone out. And I-"
Tendou couldn't speak anymore. With tears running down his face, he couldn't seem to say anything. Then he realized.
Ushijima was.. kissing him. He was kissing Ushijima.
Tendou kissed back and eventually they had to pull back for air.
Tendou stunned, hope and a few tears sparkling in his eyes in the pale moonlight, just looked up at Ushijima.
"I didn't choose them, because I'd always choose you Satori. Always."
He said, before walking back into the gym with him.
"Go ahead, say it. Don't say anything about it ruining my future."
Tendou nearly shook with excitement as he held up their intertwined hands and yelled out.
"I'm dating Ushijima Wakatoshi and he is my favorite person in the world! I am his and he is mine!"
Tendou felt a few stray joyful tears run down his cheeks. As he quietly stated to himself and Ushijima.
"My Miracle Boy.. My Paradise."
"My guess blocker."
Ushijima whispered back.
