They told me I could be anything when I was younger. A doctor, an astronaut. Anything in the world. I think they would be disappointed with what I chose.

I stand on the top of one of the tallest buildings in the Archipelago. Anemoia sparkling below me.

My hood swaying in the wind. I could have chosen to save the world but what did the world ever do to deserve to be saved?

I took a step off and started to fall. I fell around a hundred feet before disappearing into black smoke. When I reappeared I was inside the building. Red lights flooded the room and I strode to one of the main research rooms.

My boots echoed throughout the halls as I looked for the room I came here for. I stopped in front of room sixty-six. I saw a flash of purple and Aysha stood before me. I shut my eyes and thought to myself, It's not real. Before kicking the door open.

"Hey, you can't be in here!" A startled scientist called out. I raised my gun and blood spattered on the wall. I flinched at the brutality of my actions but quickly shoved the feeling down. "Just be a good soldier," I told myself.

I continued into the room and stopped at the wall at the end. Fifteen glass containers lined the wall. Each filled to the brim with a green/yellow liquid. One I knew too well. I put my gun into its holster and started removing the containers into a black duffel I brought with me.

I had three more to go when footsteps echoed through the hall. I closed up the bag and shot the remaining containers on the wall.

"Looks like someone beat me to all the fun," A voice rang out behind me. I slipped the duffel over my shoulder and slowly turned around. A slim figure stood in the doorway. The lights flashed around again giving me a better look. It was a woman with a flowy deep blue mask that went down past her neck. Tall white heeled boots went up past her knees, and a long bleached white high ponytail fell across her shoulders.

"I was just leaving," My voice rang out. "Where would be the fun in that?" The girl teased. Her hands started glowing blue and she grabbed a beaker near her and it started glowing where her hand touched it. She looked down and back up to me. "Here catch!" She called out, throwing the blue beaker my way. The glow had started to brighten and I caught it.

"Oh, impressive," The woman taunted. I looked down and the glow had gotten even brighter and was now starting to get hot. My eyes shot up.

I tightened my grip on the strap to the duffel and teleported into the hallway behind her.
"What-" I tapped her on the shoulder and she twisted around. "You-you're super," She babbled. I shrugged and handed her the beaker.

"The names Demise. Could you hold this for me?" I asked, "Thanks." I raised two fingers to my brow and saluted her. "Never caught your name." I tilted my head right before I turned to go down the hallway.

"Vengeance," The girl snarled. I huffed and tuned, taking a few steps before disappearing.

I was out of the building again. Falling. I twisted trying to see the top of the nearest building. An explosion rang out in the night and I was flown into the nearest building. Glass was everywhere and I landed against a desk.

Smoke filled the space between the buildings. A figure stood in the wreckage of the research lab. A long ponytail caught my attention and I watched as a grappling hook made its way down the street onto another building.

"Until next time Demise,"

I stood up and pressed a hand against my side where the glass had buried itself beneath my skin. I teleported down the floors of the building and slowly made my way to a sewer entrance.

I walked through the black water for about two miles before coming across a locked door. I knocked four times in a steady pattern and the door swung open. A teenage girl sat near the door on her phone not looking up as I passed.

"He's been expecting you,'' she announced. I strode over to the door and turned the gold handle. The door swung open and I was taken aback by the lavishness of the room. A thick red carpet lined the floors and an oak desk sat in the middle of the room, a chair tuned backward behind it. Paintings from all eras were hung on the walls.

"Ah, Demise," A deep voice cackled. "You're late," I pulled the duffle off my shoulder and dropped it on the table.

"I got caught up," I sat down in the chair in front of his desk. The chair behind the desk spun around and a broad man sat within it.

"Well, did you at least get what I asked for?" He questioned. I unzipped the bag and he leaned forwards. He pulled out all the containers and frowned. "There's only twelve. We agreed on fifteen," He stated.

I had to force myself not to squirm. "I was compromised, sir. I didn't have time to get all of them. I did destroy the other three." The man sat back and pressed his hands against his chin.

"I suppose that twelve liters of Krypton - 85 is better than nothing." I let out a sigh of relief. "Though, I will have to bring down the amount you shall receive," He opened a drawer and pulled out a case. He opened it and inside were rows of money.

"One million instead of the original agreement." I nodded and he closed the case and slid it over to me. "Don't mess up like that again or we won't be working together with each other any longer." I grabbed the case and stood up.

"Oh, and demise," I turned. "Do try not to get blood on anything on your way out," I looked down and blood had spread over my shirt and a bit onto the chair.

I turned and walked out the door.
