⇢ [Chapter 5: Your Customer] ˎˊ˗ ꒰
➮ [Y/F/D] stands for Your Favorite Dessert.
The sound of footsteps and water droplets echoed across the lonely sidewalk. A man holding a red-colored umbrella stared at the figure inside the shop from the large window, a small smirk creeping up to his face.
-'๑'-
"Thank you, please come again!" I smiled, giving the person the box filled with milk chocolate egg tarts. They nodded and left, looking down at what they bought in admiration. I chuckled and served other customers lining up in a line.
I'm glad I was able to reach here on time, seeing that there is a visible rain shower outside. I took small glances at the large window beside the entrance while taking orders from customers. A hooded figure stood there holding a red umbrella. I wasn't able to see their face since the hood of their hoodie is up and covers the person's facial features.
I decided to ignore them, but the feeling of someone staring right at my soul bothers me. I let in a deep breath and exhaled, hoping it would ease the tension, then continued packing the customer's order.
"Thank you, come again!" I smiled, giving the person their slice of mousse cake, contained in a transparent plastic box. They nodded and flashed a small smile then left through the only door in this bakery. The sound of the bell ringing as they stepped out.
I sighed and looked up, facing the last person in line. My eyes widened at the customer before me. Holding the red umbrella, there stood Ian with a smile. "Nice place you got here, didn't know you worked here!" He said, pulling down the hood of his hoodie.
"I–What are you doing here?" I stuttered, still shocked that he was able to find this bakery, and mind blank, not knowing what to do when a classmate and neighbor of mine show up at the place I worked at.
"What do you mean? I'm your customer, now serve me," He said, smirking, his canines almost visible. "What're the best foods ya got here? I'm getting hungry from the sweet aroma roaming around this shop," He leaned closer, his figure towering over mine.
"The best sellers or popular foods we have are the mousse cakes, egg tarts, lava cakes–" I answered but was then cut off by the male. "How about the ones you find appetizing? I want to try one," He said, looking straight at my eyes, having an idea pop up in his mind.
"Uhm– I–I guess it would be...[Y/F/D]?" I answered, quite confused at his question.
"Then I would like that," He ordered, pointing finger guns at me. "Alright then," I popped my lips and prepared his order, or basically, my favorite dessert. I find his order questionable, but I decided to leave it alone.
"Dine in or take out?" I asked. He went silent for a while then answered, "Dine in." I nodded and prepared the plate, tissues, and utensils.
I placed the tray full of the plate/cup of [Y/F/D] with the utensils and tissues, on top of the counter. "Enjoy," I mumbled, feeling unconfident to say it to my neighbor and classmate.
"ehhh?" He smirked teasingly. "What did you say? I'm sorry I haven't heard you properly," He scratched the back of his neck, smiling with his eyes closed.
I furrowed my eyebrows but decided to calm down and do it, not wanting to get fired from my job all because I angrily shouted at a customer for nothing. I rolled my eyes and sighed.
"Please enjoy it," I said, speaking louder than the previous one. Though I spoke in a monotone, Ian noticed it. "Again, with feelings." He demanded, squinting his eyes at me. I clicked my tongue on the roof of my mouth and repeated.
"Please enjoy it!" I said, trying to apply life into my tone by flashing a big smile, and making my voice a bit more high pitched. "That's better," He smiled, patting my head before I swatted his hand away.
He walked to an empty table beside the large window and placed the tray down before sitting. I went back to doing my own thing, which is cleaning the counter and other duties to make myself occupied.
While wiping some counters, an audible sound of someone clearing their throat alerted me. "Yes?" I turned around to face the person. Ian stood there gazing at me. "Since you're not doing that many important things, come sit with me." He said, placing his hands in the pockets of his black hoodie.
I stood there in hesitation. "Come on, I'm your customer, right? Now come with me," He said, now walking back to his table. His action urged me to follow him to his table too. Upon reaching, I sat down on the chair opposite from him. We're now practically facing each other.
"I can't enjoy this [Y/F/D] alone. So, let's share," He smiled, scooping a piece of the dessert with the utensil and placing it into his mouth, savoring it. Making sure his tongue touched all parts of the object. "You try, I mean, It's your favorite, right?" He said, then lent me the utensil he previously put in his mouth. I wanted to decline but the sweet smell and the characteristics of it are so savory.
I grabbed the utensil and grabbed a piece, putting it into my mouth, my tongue tasting the pleasing flavor. As I continue grabbing a few more of it, I failed to see the small smirk creeping into Ian's face.
"An indirect kiss!" he thought.
While I was too occupied in savoring the flavor, Ian was staring at me in glee and admiration. A bunch of thoughts coming into that brain of his. He kept fantasizing until my voice broke him out of it.
"Ian? oh–I'm afraid I might eat it all even if you are the one who ordered it, so here you go," I gave back both the plate/cup and the utensils. He sat there and hastily grabbed the utensil then placed it inside his mouth after scooping a piece of the dessert while letting out a small moan.
I looked at him weirdly, but left it alone and stood up from my chair heading back to the counter.
