⇢ [Chapter 14: Scars] ˎˊ˗ ꒰

I limped across the hallway of the building. There aren't that many students around since almost everyone is located in the cafeteria. Few drops of blood fell from my nose to the white-colored tiles of the floor.

I felt mad. Not only at those twins but at myself too. Why didn't I go and defend myself? They're both using brass knuckles in order to make their hits stronger. I could have gone and fought back and maybe took the brass knuckles from them, but I didn't.

My eyes began to well up a bit as I let out a breathy sigh. The twins left me after a fifteen-minute beating. I really wonder what the fuck their problem was. Fighting over a boy? Is that what their problem is? Because if it is, then it's useless. They're crazy.

It appears that it is still recess though, since the hallways aren't that much crowded, and I could also hear multiple voices of people coming from the cafeteria near me.

I tried to fasten my pace once I spot the clinic of this school building. My school uniform is also decorated with a few drops of blood. I look like I came out of some boxing match or from a Zombie apocalypse movie, judging by the look of my clothes. The skirt of the uniform is also ripped on the edges, making the clothing more revealing.

I may need to buy a new uniform.

I brought my unoccupied hand up to the door and knock my knuckles against the wooden material of the door. The sound of the door being knocked at alarmed the nurse inside. There was a small window on the door, allowing you to see who or what is inside of the clinic, but it doesn't give the full view of every room, of course.

The nurse walked up to the door and opened it, greeting me with a small smile then gestured me to go inside. The woman has short black hair with bangs, her high bridged nose standing out from her other features.

"Oh my, what happened?" The woman asked me bewilderedly, with her eyes slightly widened. Her hand was positioned in front of her mouth as she looks around my body, her mouth gaping at the number of wounds on my body.

"I...I got attacked." I stuttered. I wanted to say that it's those twins who hurt me but it seems like there's a huge block of cement stuck in my throat, preventing me to say it. "Attacked by who?" The woman asked curiously while raising one eyebrow up.

"Uhm..A cat." I looked away from her, not making any eye contact with the woman. "I walked closer to it, and it suddenly started scratching me, It seems to be a wild one. One that is not to be messed with. I found it near the school building. " I continued, making sure I gave out a good explanation to make the nurse believe me.

"mmm.." The nurse hummed. "I see.." she murmured, then faced me. "Follow me," She gestured to follow her as she walked to another room in this clinic. I guess she fell for it.

She leads me to a room with a solo bed with a tall wooden stand for it, a small fridge, and a sink beside it. "Please take a seat," She pointed at a green-colored plastic bench beside the bed. I sat on it as she moved towards a drawer and took something from it.

She pulled out a cotton ball, which is held by a tweezer, and a container of the first-aid solution: betadine. The woman walked towards me and asked for permission to grab my leg that has some wounds and scratches from the metal brass knuckles.

She made sure that the area around and on the wounds are cleaned before pouring some Betadine into the cotton ball, then dabbing it gently on the wounds. A few minutes later, she finally finished both legs and arms.

"Please go to the sink and wash off the bloodstains on your face," She told me while pointing at the sink located beside the fridge. "Wipe your face with this towel once you're done." She gave me a clean white-colored towel. I nodded mumbling a small, "ok," then proceeded to the area.

I moved the handle of the faucet to the right, making it pour water down, down to the sink's metal surface. A series of water splashing together was heard from this room. I kinda made a bit of a mess, but I cleaned it up with the towel which was wrapped around the base of the faucet.

Fortunately, there was a small rectangular mirror placed against the wall, near the sink. I kept glancing at my reflection, checking if there are any more bloodstains left.

Once there is none, I grabbed the towel that the nurse gave to me a while ago. I felt the cold sensation on my face from the towel as I dried my face off. This must be let out for a period of time since the fabric seems to be absorbing the coldness from the air conditioner.

"That cat must be strong huh," The nurse said lending me a block of cylinder-shaped ice, wrapped with plastic. "Place this against that bruise on your lip," She pointed at the right side of my closed mouth. My eyes widened a bit realizing that there are most likely bruises due to the metallic material of the brass knuckles. I'm afraid she might get suspicious of me.

I chuckled awkwardly as I place the block of ice against my lip, shivering from the freezing sensation of the ice. "Oh, by the way, it seems you have a visitor, Ms. [L/N]." She said, looking right at me in the eyes.

"Oh,  who would that be?" I asked, curiosity rising within me. "[Y/N]." The person spoke for himself before the nurse could. I turned towards the doorway and saw the muscular figure of Ian. "Ian?" I found his presence questionable. "What are you doing here?"

"I heard about the news, I'm glad you seem alright, " He scanned me from head to toe as he took small glances on both I and the nurse's faces.

"Mhm!" The nurse nodded. "What a strange cat Ms. [L/N] met, " The nurse chuckled. Ian was confused. He raised one brow up in suspicion.

"Well, Ms. [L/N], you may now go back to your classroom, unless you have any more wounds or any illness..? " The nurse trailed off, waiting for my response. "Oh,  I felt perfectly fine and I seem to be treated just right," I said, pulling on an awkward smile.

"Alright, goodbye then! " The nurse waved, opening the door for the both of us. I waved back, mumbling a small "bye, " back, that was somehow still heard by the nurse, which I could tell from the small smile on her face.

Once both I and the male are out of the woman's sight, I sighed. "It wasn't a cat, is it? " Ian's stern voice boomed as he looked down at me. I kept silent, unable to find any words to say. It was sudden. I gulped, crossing my arms in embarrassment while keeping my gaze stuck on the floor.

Ian sighed. "Fine then," he huffed, walking away from me, his thoughts now filling with malicious intents.
