You turn around and make eye contact with a boy. A rather tall boy. He was sitting with his legs crossed, but just the length of his torso and head were enough to indicate he was much taller. He was tan with long dark hair and thick unruly eyebrows. His voice was deep and a little raspy. He loomed over you. There were heavy bags under his red hazy eyes. You look down at his hand, a blunt lit between his fingers. That's where the smell was coming from.
"Oh shit, sorry. I didn't know anyone was in here. I was just trying to get some space. I'll leave."
You swiftly wipe at your eyes, they were raw now from previously crying from the nightmare. Your hair was wet and heavy, sitting with a few loose strands hanging in front of your face.
"It's all good. I'm Larry. That's Sal. We come up here to do the same. To just escape. Plus, getting high on a rainy day is something otherworldly." He says with a smile and takes a deep inhale of the joint.
Only then did you notice another person in the treehouse sitting against the opposite wall in a bean bag chair. Must be the "Sal" person. They're of smaller stature and their cerulean hair was shaggy and long reaching a little past their shoulders. A mask they wore that covered their face takes you aback, but you get used to it quickly. They were playing on a game gear, not paying much attention until they looked up at you. Bright blue eyes matching the shade of their hair shone through the darkness encircling their eyes.
"Hey, are you okay? You look like you've been crying." He says getting up from the bean bag chair and over to where the other boy was sitting. You were unsure of the gender of this person, but hearing their voice gave you every reassurance that they were, in fact, a boy. It was slightly raspy and deep, but not as deep as the other guy's.
"Oh wait, you were crying? My bad." Larry chuckled to himself, lost in his own weed-fueled daze.
"Yeah, I'm fine now. I'm y/n, by the way. Just some crazy stuff happened and I needed to escape. This town is weird, no offense, and my family is even weirder."You sat in front of the boys with your arms wrapped around your knees, knees against your chest.
"No offense taken. Do you wanna talk about it?" Sal asked.
"Uh- I don't know. I'd probably sound crazy to you guys. Especially to that one over there." You said giggling, hinting towards Larry.
"Aw what? How could you? You're so mean." he responded, acting wounded.
"Well, I've had my fair share of crazy. Lay it on me. We can take it. I promise." The bluenette reassured.
"Oh god, where to start." you hesitate thinking about what to tell two people you just met that wouldn't make them think you had just ran away from a mental institute.
Larry motioned the joint to you, offering you a hit.
"No thanks, I don't really smoke."
"Oh great, you're lame, like Sally." He chuckled, taking the hit himself.
"It's not lame to want healthy lungs, Larry. Some of us want to live till 20 without an addiction." He joked.
"Pshh, whatever. I can quit when I want to. Tell us the story uh. . . what's your name again?"
"It's y/n."
"Y/n. I like it." The blue-haired boy said. You liked the way it sounded when he repeated your name back.
"Dude. Stop flirting and let her tell the story or whatever". Sal rolled his eyes and sat criss-crossed across from you and Larry with his elbow propped on his knee, his masked face leaning into his hand.
