Blood

You opened the door to see a familiar blue-haired boy. He was wearing a Sanity's Fall shirt, oversized grey flannel on top and red ripped skinny jeans. He wore his hair down. The blue of his hair and his red jeans complimented each other perfectly. You hadn't taken the time to notice the way he dressed before, but it reminded you of the grunge scene back in your hometown. You liked to dress this way yourself when you weren't hiding bruises, burns, scratches and scars that had found their way all over your body.

"Hey, what's up- HOLY SHI-''. A small hand belonging to you abruptly placed itself upon Sal's mask where his mouth would be. It didn't cover his real mouth, but the sudden action hitting his mouth underneath did something to the same effect.

Sal stood there, blue eyes wide in shock. You gave him a knowing look telling him to be quiet. He calmed down and did as you silently pleaded.

"Hey, mom. Sal is here. I'll be back around dinner time!" You told your mom as you started to leave.

    "Ok, Y/N. Be safe!"

You gently closed the door behind you. You let out a sigh of relief as you and Sal were now in the clear. Sal reached out for your hand and swiftly pulled back the sleeve that covered it.

"What the hell happened to you? Where'd all these come from?" He looked confused. You looked into his eyes and found something even deeper than that. Worry. Concern. Panic.

You put your hand on top of his and gently moved it away, pulling down your sleeve in the process. "I can't exactly talk about it in the open like this. Sorry about that, by the way, I didn't tell my mom. I didn't do this to myself, so just trust me."

He took a deep exhale before continuing again.

"Let's get to Larry's then. Fast."

    "Right."

He grabbed onto your hand and led you into the elevator, going down to the basement floor and then to a single door labeled "1B".

"I already let him know we'd be coming by." You nodded before knocking on the door.

The doorknob turns and opens. A tall lanky figure comes into view. He's wearing another Sanity's Fall band shirt similar to Sal's along with some dried paint-ridden jeans, a loose belt, and some old scuffed converse high tops. His long dark hair is tied up on the back of his head in a loose bun. Some loose strands fell in front of his face and they too, had paint in them.

"Oh hey, guys. Whoa. If that's what you look like, I'd hate to see the other guy." Larry says somewhat jokingly. He's a lot quieter than normal. It seems as though he's already grasped that the situation is much more serious than the light-hearted joke implied. Like Sal, Lar also seemed worried.

"Yeah, yeah, I know how it looks. I wish it was just as simple as a fight. It'd be a lot easier to explain." Your arms cross in front of your chest,

"Right. Let's get inside and then we can talk about it." Sal gently places a hand on your back to usher you inside. You produce a sharp wince and jump away. He quickly retracts his hand. He looks down at it it confusion before looking up at you. He looks even more concerned than before. He looks hurt. He apologizes before placing his hands back at his sides.

    "It's okay, you didn't know."

The three of you retreat to Larry's bedroom. The smell of old paint, sunlight, Old Spice body spray, and weed hits you. The walls are filled with band posters and paintings of all sizes. Clutter covers the floor. There's clothes spread all over, empty canvases lined against the wall, tubes of paint stacked on the dresser and shelves, and paint brushes new and used haphazardly flown about the room. Against the far wall is a small TV and gaming console with VHS tapes stacked beside the stand. Most would consider his room to be disgusting or dirty, but it's got character. It feels lived in and cozy, unlike your empty room upstairs.
