Journey of Mr and Mrs. Sabharwal

Chapter 3

On her way back home Anokhi remembered that nobody would be home and she was alone. She missed how her MIL used to pamper her once she was back from the University.

The moment she entered Sabharwal House, her phone rang. A smile appeared on her face as she knew who it would be. She answered the phone.

Anokhi: yes I have reached and I am just opening the door. BTW how do you get to know isi waqt call krna hai.

Caller: thats because i am used to calling you at this time whenever i am not at home. I hope i didn't disturb you.

Anokhi: I love you for this maa. Aur kya disturb?

MIL: chal chal ab saas ko maska marne ki zaroorat nahi hai.

Anokhi: I am missing you

MIL: we will come tomorrow. BTW tell me one thing

Anokhi: kya

MIL: Are you fine? I mean is everything fine between you and Shaurya.

Anokhi: yes maa, but why are you asking.

MIL: no you were sounding a bit low.

Anokhi: no i came back from the university just now, so i am a bit tired.(in her mind aapko sab kaise samjh aajata hai)

MIL: If you had gone to university then Shaurya would be in office.

Anokhi: yes obviously.

MIL: OK, you take care.

Meanwhile Parth comes and sits with his mother.

Aastha: Parth humne sahi to kiya na

Parth: yes but why are you thinking like that?

Aastha: i talked to Anokhi, she was sounding tensed and you know what Shaurya has gone to office and Anokhi had just come back from the university.

Parth: maa you know na how bhai is and how much important his work is for him. When he went to office what could bhabhi have done alone thats why she would have gone to the university.

Aastha: I hope Shaurya doesn't get angry with us.

Parth: maa this was Aarti's plan and you know bhaiya doesn't say anything to her. Relax. Everything will be fine.

Anokhi changes and sits in her room. She hasn't eaten anything since morning except for that cup of coffee. She was sad thinking about something but then told herself abhi to din khatam nahi hua Anokhi and kuch B ho sakta hai.

She decides to call Shaurya.

Shaurya: hello anything important. I am a bit busy.

Anokhi: no I was...

Before she could complete he disconnected the call and she regretted calling him.

It was 9: 30pm and Anokhi was sitting on the sofa waiting for him but there was no sign of him. Had maa been here she would have called him and asked about his whereabouts but she can't do it given he had already hung up on her. After 2 minutes he entered and she stood up.

Anokhi: you freshen up i will serve the dinner.

Shaurya: i have done my dinner as we had a meeting and with that he went straight to his room.

Anokhi had tears in her eyes but she controlled and went straight to the kitchen.

Flashback
When Anokhi was back home she decided to make dinner for the two of them. A special dinner with all his favourite dishes. She with all her enthusiasm prepared the dinner and decided to wait for him.
Flashback End.

She cleaned the kitchen and put all the dishes in the fridge and did not eat anything because she didn't like to have her dinner alone. She was standing in the kitchen and clock struck 11. She decided to go back to the room and rest as it was her final viva tomorrow and now she had no expectations that he would do or say anything.

When she entered the room he had changed and was working on his laptop. Just then Anokhi's phone rang and it was Aarti. A video call it was. Anokhi smiled and sat on the bed and received the call.

Aarti: are you guys free and where is bhai?

Anokhi: he is here only. And what do you mean by free??

Aarti: nothing. First show me where is bhai.

Anokhi turned the back camera and Shaurya waved at aarti.

Aarti: Arre no back camera, I want to see you guys together.

Anokhi looked at Shaurya and moved to his side and flipped the camera.

Aarti: now its perfect.

Now rest of the family comes into the camera and Anokhi sees Divya.

Anokhi: Aarti whats Divya doing with you people?

Aarti laughs hard and Anokhi looks at Shaurya.

Aarti: you guys didn't understand anything yet.

Shaurya: Aarti what do you mean?

Aarti: we never went to kuldevi. We came to Bhabhi's house.

Anokhi: but why

Nimisha: di now dont act innocent please.

Shaurya is irritated and asks Parth ye sab kya hai.

Parth: I haven't done anything bhai, all this was Aarti's plan.

Shaurya: what plan? Aarti kya baat hai

Aarti: leave all this. Parth bhai, nimi bhabhi, maa, Divya di lets do that for which we have called them.

Everybody says yes and they together shout "HAPPY 1ST MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY"

With that they disconnected the call and there was uncomfortable silence in the room. Anokhi took her night clothes and went to change. Anokhi understood everything why her family had decided to leave suddenly early in the morning. They wanted to give them some alone time and Anokhi laughed through her tears as she realised he didn't remember it at all and she was unnecessarily waiting throughout the day.

In the room Shaurya thought he could have at least wished her. He remembered how Anokhi's face had dropped after the call.
