The screen lights up to show 2 people in a car.
Lily grabbed James's hand seeing the females face knowing that it is her daughter.
"Where are we going?" I ask Dean as we drive down the blacktop in the Impala.
James lets out a sob hearing his daughter talk for the first time in over a decade.
"It's a surprise." He said smirking knowing the answer would irritate her.
"I hate surprises. You know this. So you should just tell me now." I reason with a glare and his smirk grows even more.
"Seems like she's inherited Lily's glares." Sirius says chuckling making Lily glare at him causing him to stop.
"Nice try." He says and turns up the music therefore ending the conversation.
I huff and fall back against the seat wondering what's going on in his head.
Now isn't exactly the time for surprises, as dad has been missing for a couple days. We should be spending out time focusing on that instead of whatever Dean has planned.
An hour or so later, I look at my surroundings and start to recognize the area more.
"I wonder where they're going." Remus says and everyone else nods.
"Are we going to Palo Alto?" I ask in confusion.
"Where is that, and who is with her?" Arthur asks and a lot of people realized they were so focused on seeing their hero rise from the dead they didn't realize the other person in the car with her.
"What part of the word surprise is going over your head?" He asks me not looking away from the road in front of him.
"The part where you explain why we are going to Palo Alto when we should be going to see if dads ok." I say as if it was obvious.
When this is said everyone turns to look at James knowing it was like a slap to the face hearing his daughter refer to someone else as dad.
"And don't you think we could use Sams help in our search for dad?" He finally cracks about where we are going.
"Sam?! No! Why would we need his help? We have done just fine for ourselves while he's been gone. So why exactly do we need him now?" I ask irritated that my brother thinks that we are not enough to handle the dad situation.
"I'm guessing we don't like this Sam..." Sirius muttered making Remus and Peter nod.
"So you don't miss Sam? At all? Given the chance you wouldn't see him?" He asks me looking at me briefly.
"No, he left us. We needed him and he just left and he never looked back. Do you even know how many times I tried to call him and he never, not once, answered the phone or called me back. So no, given the chance I don't want to see him."
Unknowingly to the Potter girl the Black brothers shared a look, knowing they had a similar relationship to her and this Sam.
"Well... to bad. You're just gonna have to strap on your party hat. Because if he agrees to help us find dad then you're gonna be stuck with him." He tells me and I roll my eyes.
"Ok, so i think him and Sam are her brothers..." Professor Flitwick says.
"She doesn't have any brothers." James denies quickly not wanting to accept that he's been replaced.
"Well, good thing I won't have to worry about that because the chances of Sam leaving and doing something with no benefit to himself is like us winning the lottery." I say.
"What's the lottery?" Arthur asks.
"Write down all your questions and we'll answer them later." Dumbledore says.
Dean sighs wishing his family wasn't so divided and wished they could back to when they were younger. Carter worshipped him and Sam and they all got along. Now Carter can't stand to even talk about Sam because he went to school and Sam hasn't contacted any of the Winchesters since he left 4 years ago. He understands why she's mad, he really does, but he also knows that their dad is missing and three sets of hunter eyes is always better than two.
The two pull off to the side of the road in front of the apartment building that Sam has been living in for the last two years.
"Come on, we'll go in through the window." As much as Dean hated to say that Carter was right, he wasn't sure that Sam would let them in if they knocked. So up the fire escape for them.
"Why don't they just knock on the door?" Amelia Bones asks from her spot seeing them going up the fire escape.
As soon as Dean and Carter got through the window Dean kicked a table on accident and has to catch the lamp before it falls. He turns and looks at Carter who shakes her head.
They continue around the apartment when Dean is grabbed from behind and the two figures start to fight while Carter watches. Dean pins the figure to the ground and smirks at them.
"Oh my god!" Lily exclaims seeing the men fight as her daughter watches like she's used to it.
"Woah, easy tiger." Dean says smiling.
"Dean?!" Sam asks angry while Dean chuckles at him. "You scared the crap out of me."
"So his name is Dean and that's Sam." Remus muttered.
"That's cause you're put of practice." Carter cuts in causing both men to look over at her. In response Sam kicks Deans lower back and flips their positions.
"Or not." He says smiling. "Get off of me."
"Dean Carter, what the hell are you guys doing here?" Sam asks after helping Dean up, he goes to greet Carter but she steps away from him.
"Well... that is no way to greet your family." Molly scolds the tv.
"Well, we were looking for a beer." Dean says grabbing Sam's shoulders and shakes them slightly to take his mind off his angry sister.
"She better not, she is not old enough." Lily scolds that time.
"Sam?" A woman asks turning on the light on in the room they were all in. She was wearing a smurfs stop top that Carter knew Dean would say something about.
As Jess walked in the screen she caught a lot of the male populations attention to the females annoyance.
"Jess, hey. Dean, Carter this is my girlfriend, Jessica." Sam says looking between us.
"Wait... your brother and sister?" Jess asks smiling moving further into the room.
"I love the smurfs." Dean says and points to her shirt. "You know, i gotta tell you you, you are completely out of my brothers league."
"Ugh, pig." Bellatrix scoffs.
Carter smirks at her oldest brothers shameless flirting.
"Just let me go put something on." Jess says motioning to the bedroom.
"No, no, no, no. I wouldn't dream of it, seriously." Dean tells her and she avoids eye contact and Dean walks back to Sam. "Anyway, we gotta borrow your boyfriend here and talk about some private family business, but nice meeting you."
"No." Sam says and walks over to Jess and puts an arm around her shoulder. "No, whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of her."
"Okay." Dean says turning to face the pair and glances at Carter who shrugs not knowing what to say. "Um... Dad hasn't been home in a few days."
"So he's working overtime on a miller time shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later." Sam says not getting the picture. Carter bowed her head taking a breath before looking at the middle brother.
"Dads on a hunting trip, he hasn't been home in a few days." Carter says slowly trying to get him to grasp the seriousness of the message.
"I feel like this is a Sirius situation." Sirius says making everyone around him groan in annoyance.
Understanding washed over Sam's face as he looked between the two.
"Jess, excuse us." Sam says forcibly calm.
"Wait! What happened? Why does she have to leave now?" Hermione asks confused.
"I mean come on, you can't just break in in the middle of the night and expect me to hit the road with you." Sam says as the climb down the stairs to get to the car.
"Fair point." Remus says nodding.
"Told you he would say that." Carter says rolling her eyes while Sam looks a little hurt by her comment.
"You're not hearing me Sammy, dads missing. I need you to help me find him." Dean says and Carter clears her throat. "You and Carter to help me find him."
"You remember the poltergeist in Amherst, or the devils gates in Clifton? He was missing then too. He's always missing and he's always fine." Sam says following behind us.
"Wait... what? Are they American wizards?" McGonagall asks.
"Not for this long." Carter says coming to a stop as she realized they had as well.
"Now are you gonna come with us or not?" Dean asks his brother.
"I'm not." Sam says shaking his head.
"Why not?" Dean asks in disbelief.
"I swore i was done hunting for good." Sam explains to them making Carter shake her head.
"Hunting? Like deer? I'm not sure what that has to do with poltergeists..." Andromeda trails off making Sirius gasp.
"Prongs! You're daughter is a deer hunter!" He whisper yells laughing making James scowl.
"Come on, it wasn't easy, but it wasn't that bad." Dean says and walks off causing Sam and Carter to follow.
"Yea? When I told dad i was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." Sam says as they reach the front door.
"What was he supposed to do?" Dean asks turning to look at him.
"I was 9 years old. He was supposed to tell me not to be afraid of the dark." Sam says and Carters expression screws up.
"HE GAVE A GUN TO A CHILD?! WHO THE HELL IS THIS MAN?!? WHO RAISED OUR DAUGHTER?!?" Lily yells.
"Don't be afraid of the dark? Are you kidding me? of course you should be afraid of the dark. You know what's out there." Carter exclaims.
"No, I didn't want her to have to fear anything growing up." James whispers sadly.
"Yea, i know! Still... the way we grew up after mom was killed and dads obsession to find the thing that killed her, but we still haven't found the damn thing." Sam rants. "So we kill everything we can find."
"What?" A lot of people mutter.
"Save a lot of people doing it too." Carter says getting angrier with Sam making Sam scoff.
"You think mom would've wanted this for us?" Sam asks and Dean bangs on the front door leading the siblings outside. "The weapons training and melting the silver into bullets? Man, guys we were raised like warriors."
At that Lily knew how James felt, to have someone else be referred to as Hallie's mother when she was the one who loved her the most.
"So, what are you gonna do? Are you just gonna live some normal, apple pie life?" Dean asks as we reach the impala. "Is that it?"
"No, not normal. Safe." Sam corrects him.
"And that's why you ran away." Carter says leaning on the hood shaking her head and lets out a scoff.
"Hallie, there is nothing wrong with wanting a safe life." Lily scolds.
"I was just going to college. It was dad who said if i was gonna go, i should stay gone." Sam defends himself. "And that's what I'm doing."
"Had a point." Carter mumbled.
Many shook their heads. They needed to get over this fighting.
"But dads in real trouble right now if he's not dead already. I can feel it." Dean says and stares at Sam and shakes his head. "Look I can't do this alone."
Carters turns back towards the boys and she knew she must have heard him wrong.
"Yes, you can." Sam shakes his head. "Besides, you'd have Carter with you."
"Yea, well, I don't want too. And Carters good company but, she can get mean."
A lot of people laugh at this.
Dean defends making Carter scoff and shake her head. "And the pranks are brutal."
"Yes! Prongslette is a prankster!" Sirius yells and Walburga and Orion glare at him.
Sam sighs like he's having an internal debate with himself.
"What was he hunting?" Sam asks and they move to the trunk of the car as Dean opens it.
"Alright, lets see. Where the hell did i put that thing?" Dean asks digging through everything only to see Carter holding what he was looking for.
"So when dad left, why didn't you and Carter go with him?" Sam asks watching Dean.
"We were working our own gig... this voodoo thing down in New Orleans." Dean says absentmindedly causing Sam to chuckle.
"Dad let you two go on a hunting trip by yourselves?" He asks in disbelief causing Dean to look at him offended.
"I'm 26 dude, and I'm quite capable of keeping the she monster alive." Dean retorts and finds what he was looking for in the file Carter gave him. "Ah, here we go. Dad was checking out this two lane blacktop just outside Jericho, California. About a month ago, this guy... they found his car, but he'd vanished. Completely M.I.A."
"You know who?" A lot of people muttered thinking he had expanded to America.
"So maybe he was kidnapped." Sam suggests.
"Yea, well, here's another one in April, another one in December '04, '03, '98, '92... 10 of them over the past 20 years... all men, all same 5 mile stretch of road."
Dean says and takes the pictures of the men away from Sam to put them back in the file. "It started happening more and more, so dad went to go and dig around. That was about 3 weeks ago. We hadn't heard from him since, which is bad enough, and then Carter got this voice mail yesterday." Dean says and pulls out a recorder and hits play.

Carter Dean, something is starting to happen. I think its serious. I need to try to figure out what's going on. Be very careful, kids. We're all in danger.

"I'm starting to get scared." Lily mutters reaching over to hold James's hand.
"You know there's EVP on that?" Sam asks after listening to the strange voicemail.
"Not bad, Sammy." Carter says looking at him.
"Kind of like riding a bike isn't it?" Dean teases him. "Alright, so Carter slowed the message down and ran it through a gold wave, and took out the hiss, and this is what she got."
"That is what I was going to recommend." Sirius jokes.

I can never go home.

"Well... that is creepy as hell." Regulas says and Sirius nods agreeing with him as they share a small smile.
"Never go home." Sam repeats and Dean tosses the recorder into the trunk and closes the lid.
"You know, in almost 2 years, we've never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." Dean says and takes a seat next to Carter on the trunk making Sam sigh.
"Alright, I'll go. I'll help you find him, but I have to be back first thing Monday. Just wait here." Sam says and turns to go back to his apartment.
"What's first thing Monday?" Dean asks not moving from his spot.
"I have an interview." Sam says turning to face dean and carter.
"What, a job interview? Skip it." Dean shrugs.
"That is not sound advice!" Molly says loudly.
"It's a law school interview, and its my whole future on a plate." Sam says walking back towards them a little before pausing.
"Law school?" Carter asks wondering if he was serious.
"So we got a deal or not?" Sam asks looking between them before he goes to grab his stuff.
