I saw him for the last time today,
Teary-eyed, we caught ourselves in a hurried embrace,
He was leaving me,
Anger should have rushed through my veins,
Even then, I couldn't help but feel struck,
By the warmth of his touch, as it filled my heart with mixed sorrow,
Through his hooded eyes, I saw the fear he was trying to hide,
I burst into a mournful howl,
Could I feel anything but pain,
As I saw him take his last breath,
I saw him for the very last time.
