The sun was floating above RiverClan's camp, brightening the whole forest, while Burnttail was talking with Whitealder. It was the next day, and a dawn patrol reported rogue scent in the territory.
''How many rogues?'' Burnttail asked, looking at the white tom with ginger dapples.
''Not a lot.'' Whitealder meowed. ''Atleast three or four, but they're still rogues. Me and my patrol followed the scent, but it led to WindClan's territory, past the bridge, and we didn't want to cross the border.''
''Hm.'' Burnttail mumbled, twitching his tail. ''Maybe they were just passing through.'' He meowed, but Whitealder shook his head. ''No, we also found bones. Prey bones. And they were fresh.''
Burnttail flinched, alarmed, then let out a hiss. ''I see how things are. Hopefully one of the patrols that I sent will catch them, and-''
''Rogues! Rogues!''
Burnttail got up, surprised, and looked towards the camp exit. Nettlebrook swam out of the river, panting, and had a few wounds on her pelt. Burnttail ran towards the warrior, confused. ''Nettlebrook? What happened?''
''Rogues. We found them.'' Nettlebrook explained, taking a deep breath. ''I was leading my patrol towards WindClan's border, where Whitealder's patrol last scented the rogues, and they just jumped out of the bushes and they're attacking. We're losing, Burnttail. We need help!''
Burnttail let out a snarl and looked around, but Frecklestar was already approaching them. ''Everyone, follow me! Nettlebrook, lead the way.''
The cream-and-white she-cat nodded and spun around, diving in the river. Burnttail, along with the other cats, followed her and they quickly swam to the other side. When Nettlebrook left the river, she turned right and sprinted towards the gorge. Burnttail got out of the river and followed the she-cat, not even bothering to shake his fur. The other cats quickly followed them.
When Burnttail heard the gorge in the far distance, he also heard yowls. He let out a growl when the rogue scent filled his nose. He ran past Nettlebrook and jumped out of a bush when he saw the scene in front of him.
Acaciaspark and Bouldershade were fighting five rogues, outnumbered. Frecklestar quickly followed Burnttail and let out a yowl. ''RiverClan, attack!''
Burnttail spun forward and pinned a dark brown tom to the ground, slashing his claws across the tom's side. The rogue let out a shocked growl, but soon recovered from his shock and started hitting Burnttail in his stomach. The dark ginger tom let out a yowl and backed off, gasping for air. The tom got up and knocked Burnttail away. The tom let out a yowl as he fell on his back. The rogue smirked and slashed his claws across Burnttail's brown belly, but he soon rolled away before he could get pinned down. He jumped to his paws and ran towards the rogue, then suddenly ran right past him, but he spun around and bit the rogue's tail.
The rogue let out a pained yowl and tried flicking his tail, but Burnttail didn't let go. When the tom finally turned around, Burnttail dodged and threw himself at the rogue, throwing him backwards. The rogue got up, dizzy, and ran off.
''That's right! Stay off of our territory, you flea-pelt!'' Burnttail spat after the rogue, then turned around to see the fight. The other four rogues were still fighting, but they were very outnumbered. Right then, he saw a white she-cat walking towards Frecklestar, sending her closer to the edge of the gorge. The leader tried fighting back, but the white rogue just kept dodging and backing her off.
''Hey! Leave her alone!'' Burnttail yowled and ran towards the rogue. The white she-cat raised her head, then smirked and threw herself at Frecklestar, sending the leader in the gorge.
