"Look, your wallet was on the victim. We want to know your connection with our dead guy."
"Do you think I would leave my wallet on a corpse? I'm not that stupid. He's a thief, and everyone around here is aware of that, Mr. Diavolo."
The noise lulled as Diavolo stared at the person across from him. He flicked his pen against the table as he studied them.
"He's a thief? So, he stole your wallet?"
"Yes. Everyone knows that Mammon is a thief."
Diavolo sighed as he rubbed his temples. This was not going so smoothly. However-
"Mammon? That's his name?"
"Of course, you didn't know that?"
"I can't disclose that information."
"Sure, but you will disclose it to Lucifer, right?"
"What are you saying?"
"I work with Lucifer, and I worked with Mammon. My name is MC, Mr. Diavolo. The MC who works under Lucifer."
He narrowed his eyes at MC. Since when did Lucifer hire new people? Shaking his head, he stood up and walked towards the door.
"So, this meeting is over? I can leave now?"
"Very well. I'll have Barbatos walk you out."
"Oh, no need. I'm sure Solomon would like to. He did offer."
MC grinned as they rose out of their chair and walked behind Diavolo. They laughed as they gestured towards the door and waited for him to exit before following behind him.
Sometimes, they were too easy...
"I can't believe you made me wait."
"I had to reorganize. You're still in one piece."
"Solomon..."
They did in fact find him annoying and shady. A true wonder why Diavolo would agree to ally with him. However, they presumed it was for his shadiness. Someone like him could easily get on a black market or a wizard show.
"...I presume they've finished examining Mammon?"
"Hardly. You know...I didn't want to escort you."
"I know you didn't, but that's the fun, huh, baby? Plus, I am gorgeous."
It wasn't hard to get under his skin. He may have been reserved, but he was irritated and stressed. Something, they found enjoyment out of.
"Asmo has told me you two hang out a lot. It seems he is starting to rub off on you."
"Perhaps."
"I see. You know, they can't use your fingerprints? Even when everything points to you?"
Sometimes, they were quick...
"They can't use them because it's my wallet."
"That's true. It is frustrating. Well, it was nice escorting you. Now, do head back. I have to write up a report."
"On what? About you escorting me to the door? That is going to be a killer."
"Goodbye, MC. A reminder: you didn't hear anything from me."
They knew he enjoyed spending time with them; he was just being irritable today. Still, they couldn't help but smile and nod. The game could go on a little while longer. Of course, it's not like they would get any leads.
