Dorothea Beatrice's Point of View

As they said, the value of a loving father has no price. My Dad will always be my living, breathing superhero. I was touched by Dad's words. He loves me. I separated from my Dad and look at him.

"Dad, what do you mean by he will leave?" I consulted him with my forehead wrinkled. Dad sighed and wiped my tears using his thumb.

"He had to go back, my princess. That's why, he asked me yesterday if he can spend the whole day tomorrow with you and I agreed," Dad retorted which made me gasp. Ephraim didn't tell me about that. He didn't tell me that he had to go back.

"Don't you worry, princess? He will be back," Dad proceeded which made sighed. I'm frightened that he will leave me forever.

"Alright, Dad," I spoke and he smiled at me. After that, Mom told us to eat dinner. When we're done eating dinner, Mom helps me to pack my clothes. Morning came and Ephraim came to fetch me. We ate breakfast first before leaving. I'm glad because he didn't refuse. I hugged my parents before leaving. Ephraim carried the bag that has my clothes and other necessities.

"Enjoy," Mom said which made me smile. Ephraim held my hand as we bid goodbye to my parents. We rode in a horse-drawn carriage until we reach a quiet place, in the middle of the forest. I was surprised because the house is located in the middle of the forest. So, this is where he currently staying? I mean, he's alone and it's dangerous for him. Right, he's a soldier.

"Welcome to my humble home, my lady," Ephraim uttered as we stare at his humble house. This place is peaceful. All we can hear is the chirping of the birds. A deep well is located outside with a basin that has water. The house is made of bricks. Ephraim opened the door and we stepped in.

I instantly wandered my eyes on the surroundings. It's neat and clean. The floor had been a highly polished parquet, blocks were placed and sanded to a smooth finish with fine bristles. The walls stood firm, the window frame is strong, glass triple-glazed. A curtain was hung on the windows.

He had a living room and a kitchen on the other side with a dining table with two chairs. A basket of different kinds of fruits was placed at the center. On the left side, I saw a door that I presumed was his room. On the right side, it's a bathroom, I think. Ephraim released my hand and put my bag on the wooden chair. He also placed his pistol gun and a Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife on the center table. I know because Dad had those too.

"Your place is beautiful," I praised. He just smiled at me.

"This house was abandoned when I found it. I cleaned and fixed some parts to make it presentable," Ephraim spoke that made me nod. I didn't know that this house is abandoned because it is fully furnished.
