Dorothea Beatrice's Point of View

They said that when a guy told you his secret, you're special to him and he trusted you enough.

"What is it?" I inquired him and my heart is still thumping, waiting for his reply.

"I want you to know that I'm the Lieutenant Colonel of Japanese Korean ARMY. I cloaked myself to enter the ball last night and was about to spy on the Philippine Commonwealth ARMY but I met you instead. My intention last night disappeared when I saw you, Dorothea. I'm not going to hurt you, my lady because if I do, I will be broken into pieces. I decided to tell you this because I can't lie to you. You are more important than my mission, my lady," he confessed.

The truth didn't surprise me because I already inferred that he was the Lieutenant Colonel of the Japanese Korean ARMY. I admire him because he admitted it to me. As they said, the truth may hurt a little while but a lie can hurt you forever. It's better to tell a secret early than be late. I'm happy because he told me his secret this early.

Then my assumption was right. If that's the case, he's a soldier like Dad and he's one of the highest ranks in the military. To be honest, I'm not afraid of him because I trust him. I believe that he can't hurt me because he loves me and that's enough reason to give him a chance. I can say that his intention for me was good.

I didn't know that the Lieutenant Colonel of the Japanese Korean ARMY is handsome.

"Ephraim, I thank you because you told me the truth. To be honest, I speculated last night that you're the Lieutenant Colonel that my Dad was talking about that's why I'm not alarmed when you told me the truth. You prove to me that you had good intentions for me and I believe you. I'm not mad because you're the Lieutenant Colonel. I'm happy that you didn't lie to me. You trusted me enough that's why I will give you a chance," I asserted.

The uneasiness in his eyes gleamed because of what I have just said. He moves closer to me and gently put his arms around my shoulder. I then leaned on his shoulder as I look at the calm river.

"Thank you for the chance, my lady. I'll protect you at all costs," he mumbled and kissed the top of my head which made me smile. Me too, Ephraim. I'll protect you at all costs.

As they quoted, telling the truth and making someone cry is better than telling a lie and making someone smile. The naked truth is always better than the best-dressed lie. I'm at ease because I can love him without doubt and secrets. I was lucky that I met him.

"Let me meet with your parents, my lady," I turn my gaze into him when he spoke.

"What do you mean? Are you going to tell them that you're the Lieutenant Colonel?" I implored, and my voice went gentle. He then met my eyes and chuckled. He slightly pinched my nose.
