" He needs to find a new host. For all we know, he's already got one "
...
"Try Dustin again," Mike said bouncing his leg up and down on the couch as he ran a hand through his hair -- the group tried to get in contact with the curly-haired boy but every attempt seemed to be futile because, in the end, he was radio silent.
Alana shook her head and sighed, "something's wrong. Dustin always answers" she said looking at Max with furrowed eyebrows -- "don't worry, he's probably hanging with Steve" Max said nodding in her direction.
Will sighed and began explaining the feeling he had been having for the past weeks, he felt it growing stronger but he didn't want them to think he was crazy or maybe, he was just in denial. Alana grabbed his hand and ran her thumb over the back of it comfortingly, "I didn't think it was anything at first. I mean, I think I just didn't want to believe it. The first time I felt it was at Day of the Dead" he explained to the room keeping his eyes peeled on the floor.
Mike and Alana looked at each other with worried expressions remembering the night. "The power went out that night too," Mike said remembering the events, the group nodded along.
"And then I felt it again at the field near the Nelson farm the next day. Then again yesterday outside Castle Byers" he explained to the group who struggled to retain the information, they didn't want it happening again. So they, along with Will, subconsciously went into denial.
"Is there like a pattern? The places you felt the feeling, does it mean anything to anyone?" Alana asked looking around at the group who thought for a minute before shaking their heads, "no" Eleven mumbled shaking her head slightly staring at the floor.
Max cleared her throat, "what does it feel like?" she asked frowning. Will ran a hand through his hair and held Alana's hand tighter, "it's almost like.. you know when you drop on a rollercoaster?"
"Sure"
"Yeah"
"I guess"
"No"
"It's like.. everything inside your body is sinking all at once but.. this is worse. Your body.. it goes cold and.. and you can't breathe. I've felt it before, whenever he was close" Will says playing with Alana's rings on her thumb.
"Whenever who was close?" Max asked wrapping her arms around her body as if she was trying to comfort herself, Lucas looked at her from across the room with a sigh.
"The Mind Flayer" he simply said looking the orange-haired girl dead in the eyes making her gulp eerily.
El frowned, "I closed the gate," she said as if she was trying to reassure herself that none of this could happen, not again.
