What is wrong with him?!

"Emily?" I heard Abby's voice calling me, her footsteps getting louder as they hit the wooden floor while approaching me from the back, I turned around to see her looking concerned.

"What happened? Where's Jaden?" She asks, uncertainty to ask is readable on her face.

"He left" i said softly, looking at my feet which were are now rocking back and forth between my toes and my heels from the stress of what's going to happen next.

"Why?" She asks.

"He got upset i chose Adam over him" I whisper in defeat, it hasn't even been a whole 12 hours before fighting again and i just feel tired and drained.

Is this even considered a fight?

Me saying he was upset is just the understatement of the wholeass century.

"You did what?! Why?" She just sounds shock or maybe confused.

"I told him i would be going out with Adam today cz' he's leaving in two days and he got mad and said i was choosing Adam over him and then stormed out" I explained bluntly feeling the heaviness in my chest grow.

She pauses for a second to comprehend what i just said even though it was crystal clear that i kinda messed up. But Adam is leaving and Jaden actually lives here in LA so I don't know what's the big deal in postponing it to another day when we have no guests.

"So you're telling me that you chose your ex-abusive boyfriend that happened to be your cousin over the guy you love" she pauses " im sorry....what?"She asks, her eyeballs daring to fall off their sockets.

I feel my heart break with what she just mentioned, the scene playing again and again and again like it did for months before I could ever move on. I just feel like i got kicked right in the guts and stabbed in the chest trillion times at once.

"Why are you bringing that up?" I ask in hurt, she knows better than to throw this fact right in my face, she knows what i went through but still keep on bringing that up. I completely understand her dislike for Adam for obvious reasons but that hurt so bad.

"Im sorry but you need to remember that he couldn't have changed over night Emily, it's been a year i know but that doesn't change what he did, i know you forgave him and he should appreciate that by trying not to block your path to happiness and you know damn well he can see that you guys like each other, so why ruin it when he can clearly 'hang out' tomorrow or something?!" She explains without missing a beat, putting the hangout between virtual air quotation marks being sarcastic as always.

I stay silent, there wasn't much to say anyway she was right, just like always.

"So what am i gonna do now?" I ask trying to cut the silence but still feeling hopeless.

"Well...this whole thing happened for a reason so you should probably go out with Adam and wait till he leaves before making it up to Jaden" she explains

"Why s-"

Adam comes out of the kitchen looking a bit annoyed but miserably trying to hide it.

"Is everything okay?" He asks his voice still masked with slight irritation.

"Y-yeah everything's fine" i say softly. A part of me still feels bad i chose to go with Adam even though im so familiar with his character and how he acts over Jaden, i really like Jaden but the position i was put in was extremely awkward but i mean what would my parents say if i postponed with Adam.
