Outfit at the top ^^
Here it goes again, running from the cops. I was running through alleyways desperately trying to escape but I ended up dropping my guitar and backpack with all my belongings in the process. Me and the police officer were standing about 10 feet from each other so I thought that I could at least save my guitar but I ended up being pushed against the warm brick wall. My breath was heavy and my heart was pounding out of my chest.
"Hey! How bout we call this a warning....yeah?" I mumbled under my breath.
"Not gonna happen" says the cop. "We're going cmon" he says while putting my hands in handcuffs.
He walked me over to his cop car and put me in the back. Once I was in I over heard him saying, "Yeah I caught another one, a girl this time."
Next thing I knew there I was in a child services waiting room sitting next to a younger looking kid and then a kid maybe about my age, it was hard to tell for sure. I hid my face with my hood because I really didn't want nor need anyone looking at me. I heard Mark call out to the one kid that looked about my age- Will. After they talked and came out Mark called me. I rolled my eyes and stood up. When I walked into his office I sat in the chair across from his desk.
"You stole a cop car!" Mark spoke sternly.
"7 years....8 schools...22 homes.....that's has to be some kind of record- and not one to be proud of!" He scolded me like I was some child.I sat back in my chair and smiled, "It's kind of hard not to see it as an accomplishment." I chuckled quietly.
"Glad you think it's funny!" Mark spoke. "But this time it's serious, I have no other choice then to put you in a state facility."
"Juvie." I was shocked. I never even in a million years thought it would come down to juvie! Of all places! I then spoke again, "Mark you can't be serious!" This time my breath started to quicken by the second.
" I know that you have been through a lot..."
I cut him of and blurted out, "I'll do better!"
"Your talented and-"
"Hey I'll change! For real this time!" I was basically pleading, and I hated doing such a thing.
"Mackenzie" he went.
"There has gotta be something else, anything else,"
He interrupted me saying, "There isn't."
Silence. I can't believe this was happening. Basically my whole life going down the drain because of my stupid actions. Ugh.
"I'm sorry Mackenzie, that group home was the last option."
I sigh thinking of how my life is just going from bad to worse. When I looked back at him he looked upset and disappointed.
"Listen I know it's been hard since you lost your family..."
I broke eye contact afraid I might show any sign of weakness.
He continued talking, "But your a great kid, and for your sake I hope you figure that out sooner rather then later."
Just as he finished there was a knock on the door. He excused himself and walked out talking. I couldn't hear anything because my head was pounding from what was gonna happen to me. When he walked back in he was with another guy, maybe a parents age to a teen and a girl who looked around my age.
"Mackenzie, this is David and his daughter Avery, one of our foster families." Mark said.
"Hi. I'm Avery." She stuck out her hand for me to shake so I did.
"Mackenzie." I said with a light smile.
"Nice to meet you." She spoke. Avery sounded really nice.
"Nice to meet you too." I said still trying to get a grasp on what was happening.
"Mackenzie, I was discussing with Mark and we would be happy if you joined us this summer." David said.
"Umm...where?" I questioned looking at Mark in confusion.
"Your going to summer camp." Mark said.
"Mark I'm really not camp material." I spoke honestly. All their faces dropped.
"Alright juvie it is." Mark said under his breath. He then turned to Avery and her dad. "Sorry guys thanks for coming in." He smiled at them.
Avery looked at her dad, "Juvie- dad...we can't-" she was cut-off by her dad saying, "Avery, she doesn't want to come."
I stood there not knowing what to do while Mark was signing papers for me to go to juvie. As Avery and her dad were about to leave I spoke up, "Wait, summer camp sounds..." I paused trying to think of a word. "Perfect." I finally said.
Avery squealed and came up to me, "We are gonna have so much fun! I see you play the guitar so we will definitely rock this years talent show!"
I smiled at Avery then looked over to see Mark stamping things and putting them in my file.
We walked out the door and Avery told me all about camp, and how her dad owns the place. Maybe this summer wouldn't be a total disaster.
